Alright, I just got my army book today (thanks Wolfy!), and the Swain hero entry is explained in such a way that it means you can have ANY hero from ANY other army book as a hero in your Lahmian army! Is this right? Can I have a Hunter, or a Bruiser, or a Butcher :w00t: ? I originally thought it was only a Bretonnian Knightly Hero that you could have (my army is based around that), but since I don't have the Bretonnian book, I don't know the rules for Paladins and thus ended up using the regular Vampy Counts list with a Wight Lord as my Bretonnian noble.
Seriously, can I have Ogres?

Funky. Was just wondering, not that I plan on using any Ogres. Very cool feature, though. Sticking with the Brets.
Yeah, i had been thinking of taking a Paladin to lead my black knights...but i just decided that Wight lords can get the job done better, and for less points.
My 40K Armies:
- Thousand Sons
- Mordian Imperial Guard
- Dark Eldar
My Fantasy Armies:
- Lhamian Vampire Counts
But WS 4? S 4? Ugh. I gave up on the Sword of Kings because it was a waste of points. Now he just has a lance. I'd like to see the Paladin's stats, as I wouldn't mind paying more for better (if indeed he is).
WASTE OF POINTS ARE YOU MAD? Paladins arent better than wight lords, about the same and though they can take virtues and stuff they still arnet immune to psycho and cause fear. Also Sword of Kings is FAR better than any virtue out there and its so cheap. Lastly i dont know what weird universe you are living in but last time i checked WS4 and S4 are pretty good for a semi-cheap hero with 2 wounds and a 5+ killing blow rule.
But this isnt supposed to be a bashing post(BUT SoK WASTE OF POINTS WTH?) really though, wight lords are good for their cost and if you keep him around a general or better, take the general with him he shouldnt crumble(and he shouldnt aneways because you should be slicing of rears and flanks with him if hes on a horse) so no, pally is not better. In fact i would be suprised to find a non chaos, non ogre hero for his points thta is better.
P.S WASTE OF POINTS WTFH

You want a good swain, take a Liche Priest. Picture it:
Vigour Mortis (I think): 8"
Incantation of Urgency: charge 8"
Charge 24" with you skellies. Just a thought.
Hive Fleet Furi Kuri 32/21/4
Tomb Kings: 8/5/2
Im in ur Halo, killin ur covernantz
Firstly its the Danse Macarbe. Secondly that is mean and unfluffy, I would be yelling cheese at you so loudly you would here it from the other side of the world. If you could get someone to agree to play you with that then good for you.
When life gives you lemons, shut up and eat your damn lemons.
Alright, I'm not very tactically minded, so the sword seemed like a waste of points to me when a lance (S 6) is only 6. Anywho, I'm giving him back the Sword of Kings (he had it originally), now that people have been telling my I'm an idiot.
As for the Liche Priest, that is not in character with my army. I'll just keep the Wight Lord, it works fine for me.
Still, I'm sure there are some pretty damned powerful Heroes you could throw into your Lahmian army using this rule (Aspiring [Exalted? Which is better?] Champion of Tzeentch ).
