    bat swarms or spirit host

i need some help with this choice.. here are their advantages:

    BAT SWARMS:

    advantages:
they have an impressive 5 wounds and 5 attacks
    unbreakable
    10" move
    flying
    fear
    Ld 10
-1 to hit them with shooting

    SPIRIT HOSTS:

    advantages:
not nearly as much as the bats, but 4 wounds is nice, as is their 4 attacks
ETHEREAL - they cant be hit by shooting at all! and moving through objects is brilliant
    fear
    ubreakable

the bats is at 60 pr. base and ghosts is 65 pr. base..

    what is your preferrance?

I'd probably pick a Spirit Host myself, but really just because I think a swarm of ghosts is cooler than a bunch of bats.

Effectiveness wise, I've never used either, so I dunno how good either would work.

But both are unbreakable, seeing as tho the Spirit Host counts as Undead. Which also means that it would take Combat Resolution wounds that a Bat Swarm would not.

The Spirit Host is Ethereal, the Bat Swarm can fly.

Stat and point cost wise, the Bat Swarm might actually be better. Although the nice thing about a Spirit Host is that, being Ethereal, it can act as a human shield against shooters and not take any damage.

I far prefer hosts.. They are fantastic shields as mentioned, and in combat they aren't going to be killed like bats are. Just crumble..

    1. being in inveunerble wall against most misslefire
    2. fantastic to lock up on cavalry or other expensive units

they are special but but that generally isnt a problem(not for me atleast).

sometimes i even feel funky and take both as batswarms are fun fun fun to annoy your opponents flanks with.

    cheers dancey.

Don't rely on both units to get any wounds in though. they act like shields for shooting, and their attacks won't do much. I wouldn't consider it an advantage. Both cause fear, are unbreakable, but Bat Swarms are Skirmishing, so gain -1 to hit still.

Yeah but the only wounds spirit host will take in CC is if there is a hero wiv a magic weapon and combat res. If you have the spirit host tie flank charge with 3 or more bases then the chargee loses most of its combat res. I did this against chaos and it wiped out half of the army (khorne chaos admittedly).
