My friend just started collecting VCs and he told me that there is a magic bow that allows him to snipe characters, as in he can pick them out regardless of their location. Is this true or did he misread the rules?
In addition, we are starting new armies together what ones to well against VCs?
Your friend is right-
Lahmian Vampires only. Bow with a range of 24", all hits count as poisoned attacks and are resolved at Strength 4. In addition, the bearer may choose to target any enemy which he can see - characters in units, riding chariots etc. If the bearer chooses a target which couldn't be targeted by normal shooting, he suffers a -1 to hit penalty.
It isn't that good really so I wouldn't worry about it plus your opponent has to take Lahmian Bloodline which I personally find the weakest of the bloodlines.
Dwarfs aren't bad, High Ld good magic resistance, Stubborn and unbreakable units and plenty of artillary.

Best army to battle both undead armies with imho is ogres. You ignore their biggest strength, and a unit of bulls will have their way with any form of undead troop.
My friend plays ogres and that brings up a good question. Since we both cause fear, if I win combat and outnumber him he won't autobreak right? Same with immune to psycology, it makes you immune to autobreaking? Just making sure.
My friend is actually afraid to play my army of VC, I'm not sure why, but if you go with ogres you ought to watch out for his ethereal baddies, you gnoblars will almost definetly flee if they try and do anything, and if he goes with blood dragons his heroes could take out your tyrant and bruisers most of the time.
I would say go with chaos or lizardmen, chaos being so adaptable, that they can make a magic heavy or fighty army easily, I hate playing them so much. And lizardmen are coldblooded so they wont normaly break, and have no major weaknesses if someone knows how to play them.
Man I feel like such a traitor for saying all that.
a slannesh chaos army will be good versus a VC army since any unit with the mark will be immune to psychology.
The problem with slaanesh is many of their mark specific powers and spells won't work on VC since they are already immune to psychology and ld isnt very importantOriginally Posted by D1storter
My point was that the slannesh units would not be affected by the fear causing undead.
mmm ok yea i understand, but nurgle can also make things cause fear, and khorne makes the units immune to psycho b/c frenzy. Even undivided lets them reroll psych tests. Basically any chaos mark will give you more than a fighting chance against VC.
Point taken. I wasnt thinking about other markes. Only tzeentch will suffer.
We aren't saying you need to go with chaos to beat VC. In fact, any army can beat any army with enough strategy. Just look at the models and abilities and see what you like about them. It's all about fun, and if you pick an army that will destroy your friend every game, he won't be having fun, and really it'll get boring without a challenge. That being said, yea anything that can get around the fear factor (heh) will have a much easier time standing up against the undead.
