I was thinking of bringing a strigoi vamp with the bat form power and some ghouls to take care of his waywatchers and scouts, then I would also take some necromancers and maybe a BB or BK unit, or I could use skellies and a unit of BB or BK for my block troops and some fell bat units to help my vamp. What do you guys think?

If you want to counter his mobile units, ghouls, bat swarms, fell bats, and dire wolves can help. Beware of his forest spirits picking apart your ethereal units.
How do people deal with the annoiance of nettels, or whatever it is called that makes you only able to hit the High elf char on a 6 in a chalenge. It's really annoing to have my 300 point count unable to hurt a 125 point hero, and more annoing to refuse chalenges from his lord level chars for fear they might have it.
That's a tough one. You can up attacks by taking a lord and the sword of battle and hope for the best. My WE highborn with the annoyance has gotten tagged and taken out. I think it was a multi-wound weapon that did the trick.Originally Posted by xrix1
The talon of death is another way to inflict hits outside of combat. A warrior familiar is another since it auto-hits. Against weedy elves, those s5 autohits can really hurt.
Or just try and engage the heroes with something like a wight lord or wraith. Also a champion can accept the challenge if you feel confident about winning through combat res.
Sorry, I meant GG for the BB. He told me he was goin all asrai, so I am expecting waywatchers, wardancers, and glade guard.
I am still figuring out how to defeat Wood Elves I have only played them two or three times twice when I starting out with VC and they have destroyed me every time but I used a flawed conventional plan (line of large block troops) and barely engaged them. I would suggest lots of mobile units with only a few Zombies units in the center I would even experiment without GG.

I usualy play Strigoi, so I do tag him now and again with high attacks and re-rolls, but it's not enough to save my count (at least it hasn't been yet). So far the only success I've had is zombies doing what they do best and seek out the rest of his force. I also find Black knights useful in being able to catch his units, and the magic weapons agaisnt his forest spirits work well. My main frustration is when a cheap (relativly) hero basicaly neuters or even kills my costly count.
