Welcome to Librarium Online!
I get a vamp lord with red fury and sword of battle for 7 attacks that re-roll misses with the othr bloodline power. with a shield and warhorse he gets +1 armor save. i dare you to post a better vamp build here
why did GW make the other bloodlines so bad?!? seems to me only a noob would chose to play van crastein or lamian vamp
Ok....ummm....why do you need to be so forward about it. Yes, a blood dragon vampire lord can be a beast in combat, but he also sucks at casting compared to the other vampires, which can hold their own in combat against many other lord level characters. The reason they made the other bloodlines is to suit your style of play and flavor. Strigois are beasts, pretty much as good in combat as a bd, with possibly more wounds, str, and regen. Carsteins have their own army, are balanced in all departments, and have good powers, some even argue are overpowered in the army of sylvania. Necrarchs are extremely good at magic and support horde armies very well. Lahmians, though I haven't played them, I have heard many people praise, and they seem pretty strong with innocence lost, and against a low ld army. We all know that blood dragons are the strongest fighters, but some people don't play like that. As for a better vampire lord, there are many, it depends on what you are fighting for the most part. Yes that guy would annhilate in challenges, but what if you play against a heavy magic army that wrecks his unit and leaves him by himself, or drops his ws to 1 and makes him hit last. In short, I agree, but disagree with you. yes it's a good character, but you posted with arrogance, and either wanted to start a conflict, or just did not want a response because of the attitude.
Other way around...Originally Posted by chaosm4rine

But of course, the other bloodlines don't suck, and the Blood Dragons aren't uber powerful.
Necrarchs are some of the best casters in the game, and I'd much rather run a Necrarch army than Blood Dragon armies.
Warhammer Fantasy: Vampire Counts | Wood Elves | Chaos
Yes, Blood Dragon are the best combat characters. Can't really deny that.. But as others have said, sheer killing power in combat isn't all there is to the game. No one is going to want to get into combat with your vamp, because he'll kill them, so they'll try to flank or shoot him.
Other bloodlines have advantages in magic or other things, Carstein's, for example, with summon wolves/bats I can bring a new unit from behind my opponent's lines. Much more tactically useful than my vampire being able to kill an extra 3 or 4? rank and file troops per turn.
one off my friends has vc....he has von cairsten hahaha he has lost 3 times over me and 2 over my brother..he have never won over uss.....hahaha!! (om du läser detta robin hoppas jag att du blir riktigt sur...) that was a swedish messege to my friend...a real assult...
I have played against VC and my friend has often asked to help him picking bloodlinepowers. I dont think blood dragons suck, but what diifrence makes an extra attck or higher ws? better off with necrach(how do you spell that?) or maybe strigoi..its the bloodlinepowers that makes the vampire... But my friend still takes carsteins and they are so dull...no special events att all, just the old dracula-style..
I think the Von Carsteins are the most tactically flexible bloodline. I mean, summon wolves will wreck havoc on enemy artillery. Aura of Dark Majesty is great for large games.Originally Posted by The Greenskin

Walking Death is great too, and Wolf Form is handy.Originally Posted by erommelus

Oh yeah, I love walking death. And Aura of Dark Majesty, too.
I'm no longer that keen on blood dragons. Vamps in general kill so well that I don't see their extra WS being that great. Otherwise, it's the armor save that makes them worth it. As for rerolling misses, I'd rather have infinite rerolls on a strigoi than one turn on a blood dragon. But I just go for a ward save most of the time. That with IoN makes them pretty darn hard to kill.
For the record, I would pit a Strigoi lord with infinite hatred, massive monstrosity, and iron sinews against that BD lord and expect to win. His armor save would be modified to either 4+ or 5+ and no ward save. The strigoi has one more wound and a set 5+ ward save and will reroll misses every round. With the extra wound, he should win over a number of rounds, assuming both fighters regain one wound per turn from IoN. Even if he didn't win, it'd be a fun battle to watch!
