Got some advice?
fat blocks of zombies. Or was it skeletons?
I would sugest, a magic game, lets them come to you and magic them to death, try to kill large units of foot troops as there maybe be hiding assasins and smack chariots with your black knights.
The poster formaly known as VampireSoul, formaly known as OrkSlugga now known as Orkslugga.
With blood dragons as my army that ain't likely to happen.
with blood dragons i would reconmend what wicked said and use fat blocks of skellies and gravegaurd. A unit of black knights to help stop flanking and a couple of necros. (depending on points). I would use the sword of Unholy Power to help boost your magic phase as well
Definetly what has been said, lots of big fat juicy units, then a couple of vampires to tip the CR and make em run. Also remeber how useful dire wolves can be, they to the same as dark riders but no shooting and 14 points less.
just my 2 cents
I'd just like to add another 2 cents to the wishing well
In my experience with the DE, I've learnt that almost everything, if not everything, in that scary army shoots. I don't have s single bow...
Now, In such a scenario, I'd advise against waiting him out (reaper bolt thowers anyone...ouch!
My best weapon against my slithery DE opponenst are, as said, large blocks of skellies with vampires in it, then use lots of magic to replenish the fallen skellies, cause they will fall useless gits that they are, but also, i found small to medium units of ghouls extremely useful if your battlefield includes any woods (and it should), as they can run all the way to the enemy through the woods while beein shielded from missile fire. then i charge them into the "shootiest" unit it can reach, hopefully blocking LOS to my main unit as well, with 2 attacks a piece, they should really reduce the number of attacks returned, thus pinning that unit, whilst your other units advance implacably as always, just a bit less shot to pieces.
was thast actually a whole dime?
I just take a huge unit of black knights with a vampire lord and thrall (assuming it's 2000pts) and give the unit the 5+ward against shooting banner. Then charge them across the battle field and aim for a high points but low unit strength unit (I find chaos warriors are excellent for this). Mash into them with your vampire and thrall causing horrendous casualties (easier with von carsteins as they're still good in combat but don't need to challenge) and maybe 1 or 2 falling to the knights, then because you outnumber them (it's a massive unit of black knights) they auto break and peg it (hopefully with you running them down).
I will point out that mine is a Bretonnian undead army (the fluff is in the fluff section) and thus can just about get away with a huge load of knights.
also, a thrall with the gem of blood, casket of ages and great weapon is great for getting rid of pesky chaos lords.
