Hello brothers in Undeath.
My first Warhammer battle is coming up in a couple of weeks, and the opposition will be fielding an Orcs & Goblins army. I have a 500 pts VC army painted (posted under the thread "Newbie´s 500pts friendly BD list" in the VC army list section. The opposition player will basically field Orc Boyz, Arrer Boyz, a couple of Big Bosses and a chariot ( very much the O&G starter pack I suspect).
As I have no experience whatsoever with playing battles I could really need some advice.
- Is the army I have posted suitable for handling greenskins (got about two weeks to paint and make adjustments).
-What should I look out for in the O&G army.
-Any tactical advice.
I know this is a lot to ask for but I hope someone will take pity on me and give me some help on this.

The army looks fairly balanced, although I would suggest taking 2 ish smaller units of zombies instead of the one larger.
It sounds like he's not using goblins, which means you're in luck, fanatics are a real pain.
I would say either do without the ghouls, and add more bats, or find another use for the bat's points. At T3, they are far weaker than TK Carrion, and thus I prefer much larger numbers. You might want to try a combined charge from your wolves and (if you choose) the larger unit of bats to tie up or take out the chariot.
You may also want to consider taking out the wight all together - As an undead player, you aren't relying on killing power (ironically) but moreso combat res.
If you traded out the wight for more wolves, you are guaranteed to be able to tie the chariot, get flank charges etc.
Good luck! Hope that helps haha.
Actually. Against that your bats will be almost useless. They cannot kill a chariot and will lose combat and crumble. The chariot will be US 4 and your 3 bats will only be US3. You have to wound a T5 model with a 4+ AS with STR3 attacks. This will be hard and if you don't wound it you automaticly lose a wound due to combat res since he outnumbers and then he still has his attacks. Further against ranked units the bats suck too. Use the points for bigger units. And make them well armored skellies. You need that to have a chance at winning combats. The Orcs will hit harder then you.
True, come to think of it.. Without gobbos, nothing is really 'soft' enough for the bats to munch on. Go for better units. =)Originally Posted by Sylvester
Ok, what if I removed the bats and spent the points "converting" my zombies to skeletons with LA and HW?
No, I wouldn't recommend this since you will be outnumbered enough, taking skeletons with LA will decrease your army size and you will let gobbos get what they want :yes:Originally Posted by Mace

Yep, you won't need to much armor against Gobbos, shoot for outnumbering. =)Originally Posted by Wolfhowl
I guess kicking out the bats and adding another 10 zombies will be the best option then.
