Banshees...trash or treasure?

I had forgotten that now they can be marchblocked. That makes it even worth less points in my opinion. Better spent buying more core troops every time now.

I guess my thoughts are that banshees can't win games on their own (except maybe in very rare circumstances), but my black coach HAS won games on its own (in one game it was the only thing left in the end, and it was parked right on top of the objective).

Now, I could take a coach and a banshee, but it seems to me that banshees work better in pairs, and I'd MUCH rather take a coach over a banshee.

Since I don't believe in tweaking one's list to fight against a certain opponent, I probably wouldn't take that banshee.

I'll give her one more chance to do well. Maybe the aren't "trash", but I at least wouldn't go so far as to call em' treasure.

I wouldn't call them trash or teasure either. I always take one and one black coach. Does she come through for me ever battle? Hell no. But she has done amazing things at times. Best example that comes to mind was againt Ogre kingdoms where my opponent has a unit of 2 bull rhinox riders (as though a unit as it gets). He moves fully forward in turn one. In my turn the banshee move fully forward and yells at them. Does 5 wounds and kills one outright. The other one panics and never rallies. Now that is an exception but just for the sheer chance she is worth it.

The same discussion applies to the black coach. If your opponent doesn't have a STR 7+ warmachine (cannon or dwarven bolt thrower with rune of pentration) it is golden. If they do it's a wasted 200 points.

i have had some previous difficulties but i use tzeentch cavalry force, but as a general rule i wuoldn't bother as i am a man who uses generic lists so i stick to things i know will work against most opponents. ni smaller games i would give them a go as immune to psychology isn't as common and smaller units r common which means you can cause easy panic tests.

If I were making a tourney list and had to include a rare, I'd take a banshee sooner than I would a black coach. Then again, considering the sorts of armies one sees at tourneys, I'd probably take neither.
