Welcome to Librarium Online!
Hey again guys, for the last little while iv been using my vampires as sylania's (dont know the plurral of that), and iv been doing ok yet I have a few questions
1 Iv read the tactica on this site but iv been facing more magic that i can handle right now. How do i deal with it ?
2 How do i arm my characters and for that sake what dose an army look like how many levy/militia ? How maney wolves (and how maney should be in a squad) ?
How maney wights ?
3 Playing on 4 x 4 tables with terrain dosnt give me very much space even at 1000 pts b\how do i deal with it ? (just so you know im using about 3 regiments 5 cavalry and some wolves give or take a bit)
Thanks for the advise that you will give me.
1. It is indeed a weak point, not a whole lot you can do against magic heavy armies. You just have to stop the worst and swallow the rest. Use the wolf thrall to hunt mages, even if it means his death its worth it.
2. As you like. maybe go for magic defence items. An essential; thrall, wolf form, flayed hauberk, great weapon. I suggest don't take anything except vampires, but up to you.
As for the rest, completely depends on your playing style. I've got an all wolf army to work and win, but it does have weaknesses. I usually go for balanced armies. Levy are worlds better than militia, so take them instead. Unless you want militia for fluff.
3. Depends on the terrain, funnel your opponent and cram big blocks in the gaps to make them hit the front. its ok to put wolves behind your infantry, they can move out quick enough. or put them in front since they move faster, up to you.
Hope that helps.
Thanks for your help iv been trying this out its just not comming together though
I actuly do not I havnt found a list that works and my model range is limited right now.
il tell you what iv got
3 vampires 11 wolves black coach 8 knights 1 mounted wight lord 40 zombies 23 skellies
Yeah you need some bats.. As well as spirit hosts and probably more zombies. I haven't played Sylvanians in a while now (playing TK mostly) but I found one of my 2k lists, I'll post it for you to have a look at. I don't remember who it fought, but my Sylvanians never lost a game so yeah..
Vamp lord, level 3, aura of dark majesty, book of arkhan, crown of the damned, earthbind, 2 hand weapons (can be great weapon if facing tough opponents, he supports a levy unit)
Vamp thrall, spectral attendants, earthbind, second weapon, heavy armour (also supports a levy unit)
Vamp thrall, wolf form, flayed hauberk, great weapon (almost always my man of the match, he is perfect for killing chariots, warmachines, lone mages, even skirmishers or fast cavalry. Occasionally I even get him to attack heavy cavalry. He starts in a wolf unit for shooting protection, or even a levy unit. He can alone declare a charge from a levy unit if he can see the opponent using the units LoS)
20 levy, standard
20 levy, standard
(the blocks that charge straight at the opponent, top them up as needed. I found they won most combats due to vampire anyway. Always use hand weapon and shield)
15 levy, standard (same use as above, I had spare points so just crammed as many as I could in. First turn, invocation from grave marker or lord will top em up)
5 bats (warmachine hunters/march blockers, and they draw fire from the rest of the army)
5 wolves (good for flanking and general annoyance, they usually don't do a whole lot for me but I still keep them)
Coach (need to have that hard hitter. Have him charge with a unit of levy and they are sure to break)
3 spirit hosts (can hold a unit in place for a while, excellent missile screen, good flankers)
20 grave guard, shield, standard, champion, banner of the barrows (usually can hold their own against a core unit, and most opponents fear them)
2006 points total, if your opponent doesn't like that then ditch a zombie.
A good use for grave markers (ones close to your opponents deployment zone) is to raise units of crossbowmen when they have passed the marker or on the flank. You can shoot on the turn they are raised (they aren't around in the movement phase, so can't have moved) and provide a nice battery of close range s4 shots that can help reduce a rank or give you outnumber. They can also charge flank or rear in the next turn if your opponent is close, which can be very deadly.
Alright that list looks solid i will try and add some more of the models to my box to try and make taht list. And to david I have no idea at all.
I was going to open another "Sylvania questions" topic, but I'll keep writing here ^____^
Who can use the From Death Awakened bound spell ? All characters from the army, or just the lord\counts ? I can't see the great benefit if there's only 1 character in the whole army able to use it....the count\lord would have 2\3 spells + FDA, when a standard VC list can use Necromancers too,and that would mean a lot more Nehek's to be dispelled for the opponent.
40k : Necron ,Chaos, Space Orks ,Eldar ,Dark Angels, 'Nyds
WHFB : Orks & Gobbos, Vampire Counts

Read the special rules for the army. FDA comes from grave markers, they work like bound items that don't sit on characters. The number of grave markers you get depends on the number of lords/counts, starting at 2 basic for any army. Its not the actual characters that use FDA.
