I found it from the Games Workshop website, and ordered it because I've never seen it before and I think it's a badass looking Vampire. But I have no idea where it's from. It doesn't look like it fits any particular bloodline.
It has the head / face / hair of a Von Carstein. It has a sword and some armor like a Blood Dragon, and beneath the armor, it has robes like a Necrarch. Since I run Necrarch, I'll be using it for my Necrarch general. I think with the robes he can pass as a Necrarch. And with some good painting on the face, I can make it look a bit more rotted like a Necrarch would be.
But I'm just wondering if anyone knows what this is supposed to be.
Warhammer Fantasy: Vampire Counts | Wood Elves | Chaos
It is an old vampire, from before there were any rules on different bloodlines, and if I am not greatly mistaken, he is accually from before there were a Vampire Counts, and there were just Undead as an army...
-lurking in the shadows of LO.
Officially diagnosed by TekoreMelkhior, Necrarch Lord
I found a picture of him in White Dwarf 170 (page 4 kickin' it in the midst of an Undead army (Mummies, regimented Wraiths, Crossbowmen!).
He be pre-VC.
Funnily enough, the skeleton horses from 1994 are what we still have thirteen years later.
According to the undead collector's guide its the classic Von Carstein model

wow, thats an older GW model that actually looks good!
some models from them days are ok, some are weird (like the old oblitz, what the hell?!) and a lot are just plain ooooogly
Got a "good" rumour from a GW staffer? Forget about it, LO'ers know more than any random GW shop staffer.

Used to have to face that guy with my dark elves when i first started playing (circa WD 180 something)! he wasnt the old von carstein model (not Vlad or (obviously) Isabella anyway) although he was used as the model for manfred von carstein as no official model was ever released for that series, but otherwise he was just the model you used for a vampire on foot, either count or lord. Still have the army book back home that that model was released with ! I've been doing this too long.
aut viam inveniam aut faciam / I'll either find a way or make one.
I have him. I use him as my Vampire model for 3rd Edition Talisman, whose rules were printed in WD. He is definitely from pre-VC days, because I remember considering buying Nagash for my Necromancer.
