Welcome to Librarium Online!
iam going to paint my grave guard miniatures and i want to paint them in a Von Carsten theme. I was thinking of a Wolves head as a icon on the shields with VC in gothic carracters but i can really chose a collor.
any other ideas for my project , like to hear them
Does your army have an overall theme, colour or otherwise? For example colours or motives on banners, skeletons shields etc.? If so, your gave guard could really tie the army together, but it's hard to advice when we don't know the appearance of the rest of your force.
now my overal theme is like :
i've painted my Carsteins like they use to be ( black and red )
i painted my skelleton shields very neutral with a grey drybrush
zombies : just the zombie look
and my bats and wolves nothing special so.
the only themed in my army are my vampires ( vampire actually)
with the red and black. but i wanted to give the GG another look
i hate painting them like " the example "
i hope this wil let you guys brainstorming
If you don't want them looking like the example, play around with anything from dark blue over red, like DavidVC04 said. The Grave Guard in the army book are very red, if I remember correctly, so maybe you could go for a night blue (Vallejo paints), and keep them dark and sinister by using black and purple, so they don't get too blue.
I'm not a great painter myself, but I've gotten a few ideas for colourschemes by looking at coolminiornot.com. Maybe do a search for grave guard, or dark elves, as they also tend to go for the darker paint schemes.
Not much, but I hope it helps a little.
this is how its going to be :
i will use the models of the Men-at-arms box and give them an red and black collor sceme
iam going to paint them if they were (not undead) Sylvanian soldiers who have the duty to protect and fight for the count ( vampire) so i dont give them skellie heads but i just paint the normal men-at-arms heads but with a very pale ( bit undead looking the are damed and cursed so.... ) skin tone they will carry a banner with the wolves head icon
and i wil free hand some on the shields ( wich are perfect IMO )
i will post pictures but dont expect them to early its gonne take long before i have the models and mail-orderd the extra bits
my black knight wil be converted out of the bretonian knights
i will use lots of greenstuf to make some bones and guts hanging out of the horses
