How big can a Strigoi grow?

Hey, just started VC a few months ago and i want to make a strigoi count/lord just becuase of the fluff and to use later in large point games. However i dont like the models and even if i did i prefer to put my own mark on characters in any army. So i wanted to make a huge Strigoi character and just thinking about some rough ideas i saw the forge World bloodthirster head which i thought would look alot like a Strigoi vampire when the horns are removed and the Khorne symbol is replaced. So anyway i know that in the bloodline power Massive Monstrosity description it says .... Such is the size of the more ancient Strigoi that blow which would kill a normal creature is but a mere scratch on these gigantic beats. So i get the idea that thhey can become pretty big but dont know if they can grow big enough to have a head the size of the bloodthirsters. So wanted to hear some input. Thank you for reading

(sorry if there are any spelling errors which i havnt spotted, and sorry for using the word "So" so much)

Well, technically it should be on a 20mm base, so if you stick to that, you want something somewhat to scale for that base.

Or you could put it on a bigger base and include the extra mm's as skeletons or zombies or whatever. Just put a tombstone or two on there.

i thought one of GW's rules was that you couldn't use a smaller base, but you could use a larger base, i know for a fact this is correct for 40K although not sure if it applies to fantasy,

Only 40k in a skirmishing game bigger bases rarely help you except to display your models better... but in fantasy it is unfair as biggere bases can make units that cause fear or terror cover more area can make characters take up the size of multipel rank and file and prevent attacks from making normally allowed kills and in general really screw up the game! Since a model's base size determines if is can touch another model if you have a skirmishign unit on 40mm that should be on 20mm like lets say furies then you could effectively crossfire the entire enemy army with a single unit of 10 models rather than just covering 1 or two units and onthe same note you could block LOS to several extra models!

So if you want to have a larger base you need to make it very clear that multiple rank and file models are represented on it or make an area on the base that is the correct size so the proper number of enemies can fight him.

As a general rule you should do everything in your power to make sure that the models are on the correc tbase size to avoid any confusion.. make larger models if you wish, but don't use them unless your opponet is very clear as to what they are suppossed to represent.

strategos is right. Using larger bases really throws things off, like how many models should be in contact with opposing models. It'd force the opponent to make attacks on the strigoi when he could put them into a unit instead.

I've certainly always been told by GW staff that in Fantasy Battle as well as 40K modelling on to a larger base is accetable!

However for the sake of simplicity and because a losing opponent finds things to complain about I've tried whenever possiable to use the base size that is appropriate to the original and not the actuall model used. In the case of Dryads as Grave Guard this was just a small inconvinence. For my Rat Ogre turned Monstrous Striggoi I've marked out one corner of the 40mm base as the Vampire and use the other three quarters as whatever he is in the unit with; this is only ever a problem when he is out walking on his own and I don't do that much! Or when the unit takes heavy casualties but I like to have a Necromancer standing around stopping that become a problem either.

I realise that this doesn't help a great deal as I've just pretty much said you can't but you shouldn't. Sorry! I think that pretty much does sum it up though.
