I am in love with 300 so much, i think i want to try to make a spartan Army.
2 questions though
1. which model/models should i use. ( i was thinking the chaos cloaks coupled with their foot slogger (the maurardors, i can't spell)
2. Which army list should i go woth. ( i waas thinkng chaos with Mark of Something, all pumped up to make it really small

The chaos marauders models work well, but use them as chaos warriors. Then give them mark of slaanesh ( never flees and are never phased my fear or terror? ) I think that would work quite well.

Orcs And Goblins - 2000 Points
As long as you're going for the overall aesthetic, marauders are a decent choice. The fact that they're bare-chested is really where it ends though - no distinctive helmets, no capes, and definitely no uniform look to the squad. To me, i was the helmets, the shields, and the precise formation that most identified the Spartans in 300.
As far as combat prowess and courage, a chaos list may be the better way to go, but for the look of it, I think high elves are closer - Phoenix Guard, specifically (except for the lack of shields, of course). Wood Elf Eternal Guard could look the part as well. Of course, none of these are bare-chested (which is fine by me, but may thwart your purpose).
There is an Eternal Guard army out there that boasts a huge EG unit (80-100) that causes fear, has WS5, 5+ AS, 5+ Ward Save, 2 attacks each + 2nd rank spear attacks and stubborn on ld 9 (with a bsb reroll).Wood Elf Eternal Guard could look the part as well.
Sounds like a phalanx to me, they will take any charge and hold. The leader will also only be hit on 6s in a challenge.
Just switch the heads with high elf spearmen and give them huge shields and you're set.
As a huge 300 fan myself, im going to have to second the Eternal guard. The hardest part w/ the wood elves is finding a hard as as nails character to represent leonidas.
Did you know that Leonidas doesnt get wet, water gets Leonidased
