Hey all, im getting back into fantasy after being missing for about a year... Seeing as no one at my shop played much, but now at my club we have some fantasy players. So, i have no idea what i want to use. The new HE look lovely, Orcsi have a soft spot for. Im good with my VC and lizzies, and ogres look lovely, and WE seem cool, i love the runnign about idea =P.
Help! People, try and convice me to play armies...starting when i say go.
My played armies are
Wood Elves (750 points)
Chaos (both races, 1000 points)
P.S. treat this like i have none of the above armies, and try to persuade me. Also, i love the look of chaos warriors... as ineffective as they are....
P.S.S. I also want to do a spartan army... any suggestions?
This should probably be in the FB armies section, but anyway id recomend 2 armies high elves because there are some very pretty looking models coming out and of course a new army book.
2nd is stick with your Vampire Counts as they are a solid army with a great magic lore, they are also the next army to get revamped ( i know bad pun) so will be getting some much needed new model releases in the process.
BEN DIESEL FTW!!!
I think you should go with the ogre kingdoms (unless you want a horde army). They got great models that are fun to paint and are good for conversions. The main force of your army would be multiple wound, 40mmX40mm based ogres that kill and eat anything they can find. They got great magic that if used properly can basically win a game for you.
These are only a few of the reasons ogres are one of the coolest warhammer armies. Go to the ogre kingdoms for more info, Demandred just made the first part of an ogre tactica which should be able to tell you a little bit about how the army is played.
Hope this helps
P.S. An OK battalion saves you like 26 pounds.
I used to be superbock, if anyone cares.
I DO like the ogres, and i think i might do "Chaos Ogres". Plenty of conversion!!
Keep em coming people
P.S. Im off to check that tactica
To be honest, I'm probably the most biased person on the planet towards Chaos, but in my opinion, you can't go far wrong with them. The other armies I would suggest are: Lizardmen, High Elves and Vampire Counts. All of these armies can be very tough to beat. Good luck with Fantasy!
Hmm, i have already played all these, and i have to say, HE are only hard to beat when used well (or cheesed out).
You seem to have missed my post was "Getting back into fantasy"
But yeah, my VC are tempting me, but they are a bit easy to win with... And the new HE are sickening....
I couldn't let this go by without making a plug for my Wood Elves.
The WE are a tricky army to get right, but oodles of fun once you get the hang of it. For me, there is simply nothing more gratifying than watching the trap you've spent 3 turns setting up spring perfectly and all but annihilate your opponent.
Aside from that, the WE figures are just some of the most brilliant in the entire range.
However, the new HE book looks pretty promising. I've been tempted to start that army myself.
And in agreement with an earlier post, I'm dragging this one over to the FB Armies forum
Going to plug the Brets here, even though I know they aren't on your list, Archno. You get to be fast, strong, and if you want to play different, just field up the world o' peasants.
Um, and I play them. Woo!
I have resisted temptation (sort of) to become a "goodie" *hiss! boo!!!*.
I have joined the Daemonic Legion of the dark prince!!
I.e, i salvaged my EC army, took all the daemonettes and rebased em. About £40 worth of stuff n im done.
Next up (i want 2 armies) i will probs redo my woodies. Cyric... my best was when i set up a plan for 4 turns... come turn 5 i killed got 1200 (aprox) VPS (including looted standards) in one large slaughter... Go wild riders!!!! (4 units of 6 of em ^^)
Tekore, i have a cavalry army, my Nechrachs
