Welcome to Librarium Online!
I've almost finished painting 1000pts of Skaven... and it's taken TOO long, and I'm thinking of either cutting the army there, or adding more stuff to it to make 1500. (2000 would take way too long...)
What do you think is a 'minimum size' that people like to play against? Do you get annoyed if people ask for a 1000pt army game? Would you much rather prefer 1500?
Any feedback appreciated, thanks. =)
Personally I play most of my games at around 2000 points. However I play HE and that means that I probably put as many minis on the table at 2000 as you do at 500.
I only don't like it when I have made this grand strategy for a 2000 + pt game against dwarves or undead (my personal bogey armies) and I want to test it and my opponent plays the wrong army or only 1500pts, doesn't happen often as we aren't sticklers for painted miniatures or what you see is what you get.
What I find is when you start to get a bit fed up with making an army for whatever reason, try something new that you've had your eye on for a while. Then you get some cool minis that you've always wanted to paint or a new army started, and within a couple of weeks what I can guarantee will happen is that you (if you are anything like me) will want to go back to the first army that you thought you were bored with. Maybe its just me...but the moment I actually get something new that I've wanted for a while I often realise that I didn't want it that much and I was happy with what I had.
I got a bit fed up with painting my High Elves last year after I got to 2000points so I started an Orcs and Goblins army and bought about £200 of O&G models. I told myself that I wasn't giving up on my HE, just waiting for the new book. Now it's here I'm confused that I ever stopped building my HE in the first place and I haven't touched my Orcs for weeks.
I'm accustomed to playing 2250 games. Before that it was almost always 2000.
But that's one reason I've never been attracted to Skaven. The sheer number of models to paint for a 2000 pt army is a big turn-off. I could paint two other armies and have the same number of models as one Skaven army.
To me, the larger games are much more fun. More models to field, more powerful heroes, more unit choices. I prefer 2000+.
What is the reason behind 2250?
Quite a few people play it and I was wondering if there was a particular reason.
I think it's quite a good size to give players that little bit more freedom over 2000 points so that they can include that cool unit that they didn't quite have room for in 2000. That's one of the main reasns I've often heard for people playing 2250.
Edit: 555 posts heh...just 111 to go to the Number of the Beast...hmm maybe I love Iron Maiden a little too much if that's all I can think about...
Ok thanks guys.
I'll think I'll stop at 1000. =)
