Well, you would be raped by any fast army (like most cav armies), and doomed by any shooty army. Most block armies would probably bash you too.
Cav armies get to you fast and your archers probably wont harm them at all. They will be upon you in 2 turns, charging and taking your army out.
Shooty armies will just blow you away with superior firepower.
Infantry armies will have sufficiant numbers to deal with the few arrows and spells you get through each turn, until they reach your line and kill you.
I would reccomend removing the 2 RBTs for 2 eagles to slow the enemy down, if you are going this magic heavy.
Id actually reccomend dropping 1 mage, and taking something like this:
lvl2, Ring of Corin, Silver Wand
lvl2, Ring of Fury, Dispel Scroll
Use eagles and reavers for blocking march moves, and pray for CoAA on one of the mages. You could alternatively swap ring of corin and silver wand for seer+channeler, and pick CoAA and FoK/FotP, and casting that with 4 dice (which will nearly guarantee that a dispel scroll pops out. I find the Ring of Corin of limited use in such small battles. But you can use it in a very nifty way. Target his mage (if he has one) . Either he uses 2 dispel dice to get rid of it, meaning you can cast your other spells with your power dice. Or he scrolls it, which means you got rid of a scroll, or he lets it slide, whereupon you can just remove one of his scrolls =P . its great, really. Id stick with RoC and SilverWand and pray for CoAA and FotP. If you get these, cast CoAA first, with 2 dice, and then FotP with 4 dice. That should freak him up, along with the rings.
Oops, i probaly should of added that most armys i coem up against are hord/magic.
eg, skaven with 3 enginseers(?) or empire with 3 wizards, vampire counts with three necromancers. When i dont fight this type of army, its a all chariot khorne army or chaos night armys with about 12-15 men in 1000 points.
With this list, you should be able to dominate the magic phase even against those armies. Remove items from enemy mages with the RoC (take that Storm Daemon for instance), while pummeling his units with FotP and CoAA shots. Take his mages with your Eagles (if they are in units, charging them into his regiments and targeting his mages only will probably be an allright trade). Id take High Magic for the Silver Wand mage (and if you get Vauls Unmaking or WBW, trade if for Drain Magic), and the other mage i would take Lore of Fire (vs Skaven at least) . Burning Head works great for taking out enemy mages within units. If you get Flames of the Phoenix, and cast it on 4 dice, with him having no more Dispel Scrolls, you probably get it off. And the Ring of Fury is after all 2d6 S4 hits, making a mockery out of most blocks of infantry. And you have your spearmen there to beat his infantry units (striking in 2 more ranks than him will even out the odds, even if he has more people and 4+ save in hth) .
Empire with 3 wizards should be easier than skaven with 3 wizards, since you have better dispel avilities, and he gets random spells (not 4xWarp Lightning) .
All chariot Khorne is easier. They are frenzied if he marks them, so use your eagles/reavers to divert his chariots off into forests and such, killing them or at least damaging them. While your arrows pick out any warriors/marauders he might have.
Chaos Knights are abit more problematic, but should not be that much of a problem with your disruptors and your bowfire, combined with your magic.
Humm... thanks slai i will have a little edit, well Exterminus squeebi will as he is the one doing my edit.
Don't all High Mages get Drain Magic automatically? I thought WBW is the lowest spell, i.e. that you can trade for.if you get Vauls Unmaking or WBW, trade if for Drain Magic
I think they get fortune is fickle automatically. Right?
The HE army book states that you get Drain Magic in addition to the normal quota of spells, and can swap any randomly generated spells for WBW.
Aye, I was wrong... Screw that =P . Just take the spells you can get a hold off ^_^ . WBW really doesnt make much difference.
I think that WBW may actually be one of the most useless low level spells there is.
No matter what spells i get, i never swap for WBW. That is why i normally give my level 1 mage lore of heavens so at least i can swap for the very useful, IMO, Second Sign of Amul.
I'd heard the archers are overpriced because of the ability to cast curse of arrow attraction. if that is the case, they should have made that the 1st spell, so at least you can always get it.
