whats the best army to use in a 500 point battle ?
This isn't a fluff question my friend. It would be best in the general section. And why not add a poll?
However, in my experience, the best army for 500pts is absolutely Empire, and then Orks. They both have an abundance of cheap units and characters. I would almost say that ANY horde army can do well, and they mostly do, but characters and warmachines can be very costly in an army such as Skaven.
Empire is especially good because of their organisation. Even a small points army can field alot of models, and thanks to the Detachment rule, they can bring that weight to bear fully. Orks on the other hand can just overwhelm the enemy with cheap warmachines and cheaper units.
ty for help good news really seeing as my biggest army is orcs and goblins.
sorry bout being in the wrong place and stuff and no poll im new to the site and im still working it out
iv said VC, probebly because i love em but also because you can really outnumber an enemy, a couple of necromancers with no items and a few hordes of zombies, skelies or dire wolves, you have a meat shield for your necros, and can constantly raise more units!!!
PROUD TO BE IN THE BRITISH ARMY.
~~ Surrender and serve me in life, or die and slave for me in death~~
Night goblins in my opinion.
Vampire Counts-4000 Points
Black Templars-2000 Points
Moved the thread to a more appropriate section for you
As for ''the best'' army, generally it depends on who you're facing etc.
Are we maxing out on Cheese here? If so then id go Skaven (no pun intended...) with 3 W.Engineers, 1 with Storm Daemon. Dont think much will reach you alive, just bulk out with Clanrats and Slaves.
Going with a more balanced army, id change my mind and possibly go Wood Elves, with 10 Archers, some Dryads, some Cav, a Mage and the Speedy Noble.
Ofcourse, a Unit of Bretonnina Knights would hammer through all that...
Its kinda like a ginat game of Rock, Paper, Scissors So, as i cant come to a decision based on balanced lists, im gonna revert to the ratmen!
I bought the Skaven book some months ago, just to have and read it. ( haven't got any skavenmodels, but I'd love to play them someday ) So for fun in my local GW I just made a little 500 pts list. I just kept adding and adding and adding units xD Pretty sure you will outnumber your enemy with Skaven in 500 pts, and we all love flankcharges, don't we?
I've won a small 500pt tourney with a Lizardman force built around two units of skinks, a JSoD and three Sallies. It's very hard to pin down and there isn't an awful lot that can stand up to a turn of Salamander (non-flaming) flames at that point level.
However, it is as someone has said, a game of Rock Paper Scissors. Where I rang rings around everything I played, it would have only taken an Organ Gun or a mage with Fireyblast to have obliterated me.
Actually, I'd like to try out High Elves at that level... 11 Archers and a lvl 2 Dragon Mage with the Seerstaff should come to 499 if I've remembered the army book.
I really like WEs at 500 because you can take one noble with the HoDA and then glade guard and dryads, and an eagle, and do really well. Shoot, shoot, shoot, dryads jump remaining units, eagles march block and get in the way.
Wood elves seem to be effective at 500 points, if you max out on dyads and take a noble with hail of doom
Wood elf player- 2000 points worth, Autumn theme
Empire player - 3000 points worth, Green and white
Eldar player - 1500 points worth, Blue and white
