for a long while i've been one to look at those awesome nijutsu movies and think about it, what if i had an army that could play with a style similar to how they fight, hit and run, cut the head of and force them to flee/crumble, an army that would have subtle tactics, deadly attacks and a "stealthy" sort of theme to it, at the moment it seems like DE or WoC but i'm not to creative, so ideas please?
I'd say WEs. Convert the glade guard bows to throwing knives, paint them all in shifty colours, give the wardancers katanas etc, and you're set.
Gamingwise, they fit your description almost perfectly.
yes, good point but how would i justify 30 inch range with knives, i think i owuld leave that for waywatchers because of their style of shooting, like it's picking off guys, but glade guard wouldn't suit tht i don't think, maybe leave out glade guard and use a unit of flade riders and dryads instead?
That could work. I was just firing ideas, tbh.
ye, thannx, now it's just down to working on a list, i think an alter noble would be necessary, or the one with the bow where he picksa specific target, but then i'd probly need a branchwraith with the +1 dispeel dice, because i don't wanna use much magic, wat could i model the dryads as tho?
Flip side of the coin, possibly Dark Elves or Skaven even? just something to think about. Though I must admit WEs were my first thought too.
Ooh! How about ogres? Ive always seen them as being quite steathy and ninja-ish
For some reason "ogre" and "stealthy" aren't the first words I think of when I think of the other.
You know, Ogres do have that Ninja Maneater model. So in fact Ogres and ninjas can go together!
Why not look in the Storm of Chaos book. There is the clan eshin skaven list. Clan Eshin is assassins and sneak. Though I must say I have not seen it working in battle very well and I don't believe its a GW tournament legal army.
Wood Elves seem a nice choice. Maybe instead of knives you could use blowpipes. And who said assassins/ninja's didn't use bows? Although to get a bit more ninja themed I would upgrade all my glade guard to scouts.
Thinking about it the Ogre idea might not even be that rediculous. At least...
Think about what ninja/assassins are: Expert, highly skilled warriors, this is why Dark Elf and Skaven assassins have hero-like stats. Now an Ogre has also these improved stats. So why not use assassin/ninja models on a bit to large bases and count them as ogres?
Although not as sneaky as Wood Elves, beasts of choas might be worth a look as well, given their mass skirmish units.
