What paints does everyone use? I was buying the walmart brand cheapo brands but they have lowered there quality over the years. Where can you get a good set of cheap paints?
Sense were on the topic whats with this new "dip" painting thing everyone is talking about?
TELL ME YOUR SECRETS!
(prepare to scream)
I use acrylic paints. I love the looks of them, and as long as you varnish your models, you're good to go. Of course, you can also get them for about 97cents and you get a MASSIVE bottle. Infact, that is my only complaint: it takes so long to use a color that by the time I need more, they've probably discontinued it.
As for dipping-
It's a painting technique in which you paint the model with EXTREME highlights, then dip it headfirst into a batch of Minwax floor polish, then shake off the excess and let it dry. It works well enough, and it blends the colors together, as well as laying in the shadows like an ink, and varnishing the model somewhat. However, it can ruin a model if done poorly. It's about as "accepted" as black washes over a white basecoat. It works, it's just lazy and probably wont win any awards.
I just use the Citadel paints They work for me and I like them. They last me a long time - only downside is I started a Midnight Blue army a week before the paint was announced to be discontinued - so I stocked up on it in one go, lol. I think I emptied Bournemouth of the last five pots.
