Do you have a particular plan for any of the armies? By that, I mean have you looked at the army books, drafted a bit of an army list... or even looked over some of the army lists here on LO to see what kind of units are regularly fielded. It may help you narrow down what you want to purchase.

In terms of the three Elf armies... I believe Dark Elves are a fairly competitive choice, theirs being the last Army book to be released. They do have a bit of shooting but I guess do tend towards being a melee army.

I personally really like the look of the Wood Elf miniatures, and from what I can gather they're an army that relies on high mobility and a lot of arrows!

And I don't know all that much about High Elves to be honest. I guess they have a bit more of a general approach in that they can either specialise in magic or combat or shooting, or just have a bit of everything.

Have you looked in to the background of each army, or seen a colour scheme you liked? Do you have a theme in mind (Like a cavalry heavy or melee-centric force)? Find something about the army that really appeals to you, and it will hopefully make your decision as to which army to choose a little easier!

Oh, and who are you likely to play against? That could be helpful to know too, as some armies have inherently difficult matchups that it may be a good idea to avoid.

Good luck choosing an army - if you want any more advice just say so, I'm sure someone will help you out!

Well, I guess you just have to decide which matters more to you now.

If it's cost, work out which of the two armies is the cheapest, and go with that one.

If it's effectiveness, you'd really have to ask someone who knows the armies better than myself. Knowing what races you are likely to play against would help here too.

If it's the background, the look of the units, or a particular colour scheme, I'm afraid you're on your own - I can't make that choice for you
