1. Necrarch's are a magic fueled army,if you play them,ALWAYS have at the very least 10 power dice. Otherwise your necrarch's strength will be useless, and their not much good at anything else compared to other bloodlines!
2. Units on cavalry bases should be kept small. Fast cavalry,ie dire wolves, should never be taken in squads over 8,and unless you really expect heavy missle fire, should be kept at 6 max. This is so you can take advantage of their manueverability. Black knights also have big problems with manuevering in such a large block. If your opponent shot the acorn of ages infront of them or got them facing the flank, they'd probably be out of the game. And at 500 pts, thats bad. Another reason is artillery. Artillery loves knights to kill, and with so many, blast templates and cannon shots can really hit alot without splitting their fire. Best use them in squads of 6,and even then,i'd reccomend only 2
3.Use your numbers man! VC need to outnumber ppl, putting atleast over 100 models on the table is practically a must if you want to win. So horde up on those skellies and zombies!
abbadon is right- thats WAY to big for a heavy cavalry unit.
keep your count the same just switch master of the black arts for either spell familiar or the awakening or mabye gem of blood. - if u want even more power dice take dark acolite
give ur necro a book of arkhan and mabye a dispel scroll
take a 2nd necro (ull have lots of free points if u take at least 8 black knights out)
give him a powerfamiliar
besides that just go with what abbadon said.
by doing this you will have
10 power dice- which is still a little short for necrarchs.
Bag of Chips, Chaos Warmaster
/27/ /6/ /5/
/6/ /0/ / 2 /
Only death will be guarding your angels, silently
Cripples joining arms in clamour
Institutionalized for the rebirth, the herd will be hunted
Split the direwolves into 2 units that way you can utilise both flanks.
Yes you need alot numbers, cut the Black knights down to about 9 and then add in the wight lord (10 if you get rid of him in favor for more magic)
Or Use the smaller unit of DW to screen your black knights, since DW are fast cavalry they can move out of the way quickly.
WHY have the talon of death (it only affects guys in B2B with that model (1-3 guys, usually2) sword of the kings, and enchanted shield is much better!
How victory may be produced for them out of the enemy's
own tactics--that is what the multitude cannot comprehend.
"Quantity has a Quality of it's own"
drop the spears on your skeleton unit. your choices are another 5 or some odd attacks that probebly wont kill anything anyways, or a 5+ armor save. What it usualy boils down to for me is that the skeletons are 2 points cheaper. more room for other stuff (Y)
Yeah, don't upgrade ur skeletons at all. Quantity, not quality. Definatly cut down on the dire wolves. 6 is good, but if you really like them, you can have multiple units.
I'm a big fan of those spirit swarms. Tie up any unit with them, and then flank with those wolves you like so much.
ZOMBIES!!!! It wouldn't be VC without them. They're cheap and scary. Why not?
IF you want some more manuverability, try some bats. Some flying harassers can help any army.
And finally,(all though this is echoing every1 else) more magic. Vamp count magic can be awsome. Make it so.
Hope this helps some. Happy slaughters!
