I got two copies of the Island of Blood set for my Christmas, one from my partner and one from the in laws (I'm assuming cross communication).
I've not really decided what I prefer, be it Skaven or High Elves, but the models are awesome for both.
When I do decide, where do I go from there? Battalion? Or is it better to build up a unit at a time? I've only really a BI/FFG RPG follower and fluff fan, so this model shindig for GW is new to me.
First I'd recommend trying to figure out which army you like most.
Since you're new to this I'd advice you to take it slow and go with small additions to the army at a time like a hero or unit.
Having 2 IoB boxes isn't really a problem. Especially the skaven army really benefits from that, you'll have 80 clanrats/slaves, 4 weapon teams and 4 rat ogres in one go
Once you pick an army, I'd head over to the appropriate subforum and ask the same question there. The Elves have a "New to High Elves- Questions" thread at the top of their page, with lots of good advice- post your question in that thread. The Skaven don't have such a thread just yet, since I don't usually hang around there and don't have any personal experience with them.
