daemons of chaos
orcs and goblins
warriors of chaos
now my friends collecting skaven and knowing him he will collect clan skyre or moldour so which army will best combat them
I voted vampires because they are a horde army and and i like dead things
also high elves because i just think the amounts of attacks the spearmen and sword masters can put out would over ride any other concerns

Not sure what to vote yet. I can tell now it aint O&G...
I'm guessing mortars will do the trick. That or your choice of vampires.
Warchief Diggah o da Bloodmoon Squiggahs
Chaos warriors! I have runned Ratboys of the table several times. Marauders to eat the elites and certain monsters with warriors to chop apart the Slave hordes and our elites to take care of what is still standing.
Current VC's suck big time against skaven... We're not a horde in any way - 8pts skeletons which are fought to a standstill against those dirty-cheap slaves?!! I really don't know why everyone keeps insisting that VC's are a horde army? Our 7th ed book is not a horde - it's a min/maxer's wet dream that's been nerfed to levels of near-uselessness by the core changes of 8th ed!!! (name the last time you saw a competitive VC army that wasn't GGGhoul hordes + gravstar?!)
We'll see what January brings with the new VC book and bringing back proper pts-costing for our troops who couldn't fight their way out of a sopping wet, half decomposed paper bag. (plus the added goodies of monstrous unit/s and other new toys!)
For now, I'd say that Warriors or Dwarfs are among the best skaven-counters. Both have masses of highly resilient T4 troops, can field loads of great weapons and get good armour onto the field.
Warriors are by far much choppier and also have access to hordes of cheap yet hidieously effective hordes in units of khornate marauders.
Dwarf infantry is inferior to chaos warriors, but they have access to a devastating shooting phase and lots of runed war machines to remove handfulls of the rat-things each turn!
Both armies also have insanely tough characters, Dwarfs getting the fightier ones, while chaos has the magical advantage.
Both armies can also shut down magic phases and/or ensure that any miscasts are as deadly as possible.
I'm hopefull that come January, VC's can finally give the rat-things a good pasting as well!
ogres would be my guess nice charge off impact hits regular hits then stomps should happily do the trick
Ogres do quite well against Skaven - except for the Warp Lightning Cannon, that thing gives 'em issues. But they're better off than WoC, who live in abject terror of the Dreaded 13th. I would side toward Ogres, because they have better tools to deal with the WLC (Ironblasters, Sabretusks), than WoC does to stop the D13 (Infernal Puppet, Dispel Scroll, prayers to the Dark Gods).
