Welcome to Librarium Online!
Ha! The title got you!! :p
Its one of those threads...
What army do you you do? Why'd you choose them over any others?
I play dwarfs, as you should know (I actually counted everything up the other day.. all 9k ^___^ ) I play dwarfs mainly because they were brought for me, I got hold og Heroquest and ended up at a mate of my dads. These two blokes were playing Greenskins vs Undead, I was hooked. Next thing I know I'm getting dwarfs as a prezzie, after reading their fluff that was it. I was officially a dwarf.
*Gasp* You're a dwarves player? I would have never known  .
Anyway, I originally took High Elves because I was playing Dark Eldar in 40k, thus I felt it was time for a change. I kinda liked the cheaper prices for items, but other than that they didn't have my feel. So I stuck with 40k for a while. When 4th edition came out and I had had enough of the people that run around saying "my army is better than yours," I decided to play Fantasy. I wanted to play Dark Elves with tons of Corsairs backed up by Witch Elves. Then I changed my mind when I realised that would cost me an arm and a leg. Still on my search for that perfect army I went to my old habits of reading about serial killers and what they did and how they grew up. And then I remembered Elizabeth Bathory, the Blood Countess, and realised my calling was in Vampire Counts. After scouring through their fluff I decided Lahmians suited me best, so I decided to start playing them. And I decided to do what I would have done before anyway and used Dire Wolves instead. Although I haven't actually started getting that much for my army, I plan on using tons of dire wolves backed up by skeletons, summoned zombies (because most things you would summon on the feilds of battle would be the fallen corpses of your enemy, which would not be skeletons, plus Lahmians bring a bunch of skeletons with them to begin with), Fell Bats, and Black Knights.
And as for Elizabeth, she leads my army with her whip tipped with talons to shear the flesh from my enemies bodies.
Heh, I guess its been a while since we have had this thread. Fantasy has gotten much bigger. I would like to thank Iron Loki for reviving the Empire section. Kudos!
Anyway, I play Empire. I have 4,000 some odd troops in various stages of paintedness and presentability. I have quite a few Dogs of War too.I have quite an assortment of various "evil armies" for enemies back in my Warhammer Quest days. I started playing when a few friends of mine got free issues of White Dwarf 199 and 200 and devoured its contents voraciously. I think I was 13 or 14 at the time. We had all played Heroquest, Talisman, Battle Masters, and dabbled in Dungeons and Dragons. The group has grown and shrunk over the past years but there are a few armies I play against regularly
Orcs and Goblins
ArchonofDeath: You should read the Vampire novels by Anne Rice - it sounds like its up your alley.

“Cry ‘Havoc’ and let slip the dogs of war! - Julius Caesar, Act III, Scene I
Oh I forgot, I have Asur too. Boardering on 3k now, these came as I really wanted an army that played differebt to dwarfs (dispite never actually playing with them yet). Also they fit in well with the dwarf fluff, if I get enough pts I may have to get a WoV (Wot game sometime... >=]
I only started warhammer recently (though I had one game of 1st edition about 20 years ago). I picked up a copy of the 4th Edition 40K rulebook on a whim. I'd been reading about Dawn of War and as I like reading rulebooks more than playing games, I thought I'd give it a go (overcoming my decades old anti-GW prejudice - I hadn't forgiven them for stopping being a games store and becoming a games company). I bought a Space Wolves battle force, a Tyranids battle force, some boxed sets and blisters of each, some bits of Imperial Guard, Orks, Eldar and Witch Hunters and all the codices (except Dark Eldar - I mean COME ON!!!). As I'd run out of things to buy, I got the 6th Edition WFB rulebook and started to repeat the same mistakes. I bought the High Elf army book plus a regiment of spearmen (unassembled), then the Dwarf army book plus 12 hammerers (1 painted).
So where am I now? Well my wife bought me 2000 points of Daemonhunters for my birthday and at 25 points per basic troop, that's one quick army to build (even at my pace). Then, I read a piece on Skaven and I was hooked. No poncy elves with there "look at me, I'm magic", no dwarves with there "march very slowly towards the army and steamroller all comers", just hundreds of rats shouting "come and have a go if you think you're hard enough" and "did you spill my pint".
well i was a bit last the last poster in my early days as a warhammer player buying impulse models, with the only real armies of any size i had being Dwarves and Undead (mainly due to the old Skeleton army boxed set you could get- 20 skellie spearmen/bowmen, a chariot and ten cavalry for a tenner!) and then loads of bits and bobs of empire, chaos beastmen, elves (high and wood) orcs and goblins and much more besides...since coming back to the hobbie recently ive decided to rationalise my armies a bit, keeping a Vampire Counts army, a Brettonian force, a small wood/high elf force (i just like the models), and of course my trusty dwarves...i will be selling all my other stuff by and buy, so i''ll keep people posted on the trader zone about future ebay lots :p
I love the paegentry of the Brettonians, and the wildness of the WE minis but my favourites will always be Dwarves....purely because i love Slayers!! the models are, have always been and always will be the coolest in the game and i just love pitching those little guys against the best my enemy has to offer- i dont care if they die i just love it!!
PLAN CLAN MAN!!

I've only been playin' Skaven (heh..that rhymes ^_^) for about a month now, but i lurv the ratses! I play nothing but "good" armies in 40k and was ready for something new, but none of the "evil" races in 40k really appealed to me. So one slow day at my game store I decided to pick up a WHFB rule book and a handful of randomly picked army books (Skaven, Ogre Kingdoms, Empire, and Dark Elves) and set to reading them for..iono about a week. I decided I definitely wanted to indulge my evil side with FB, so I tossed Brets, Empire, HE, WE, and Dwarves right out the window. Orks and Goblins I considered for a bit, but decided I'm just not that into them. Ogre Kingdoms I just didn't like, Lizardmen didn't appeal to me either and I just plain hate Vampires in general. That left me with Chaos, dem mummies, and the Ratses, and out of the 3 fluff-wise,the Ratses won out. The skaven are just great. They're just so perfectly, completely evil. Skaven don't have a single redeeming quality. No martial pride, no quest to avenge some past misdeed, you can't even claim they're simply "misunderstood". They don't think in any that what they do is right, they know it's wrong, that's what they live for. They want only to consume and destroy and nothing else. They're deliberately evil..like little fuzzy balls of hate.. and they're mean little buggers! They got teeth and claws and gnawing and shooting and..and..they just own ^_^!
