After reading through heaps of tatics articles (And the postings on this great website) on the web I have noticed that a lot of units (Swordsmen, Steam-Tanks, Clan Skyre, Brettonians in general etc) are not recomended to be takin to a tournament as it will result in a loss of Sportsmenship awards. I can-not believe this!!!!. The army lists are writtain to be balanced and if we are punishing people for choosing units that they like to play with then its recking the hobby. Ok yes some units are a bit too powerful but you've just got to get over that. You've got to realise that each army list has its pro's and con's and that even tough one unit might be hard as nails there will be other units (In that same army)who find it hard to stand up ina strong wind.
When I show up to a tournament I want to be judged on how I play the game NOT how I play the game minus the units which you have a problem with because they hurt your battle line.
In regards to the Steam-Tank. YES it is powerful and should probably not be used in games under around 3000 points. However the same could be said for a unit of Chosen Chaos Knights with a Mark of Khorne (And thats a a core choice!!!!!!! not a rare one like the Steam-Tank). But if you look at the rest of the Empire list they really do need all the help they can get (T3 troops sound like cannon fodder anybody?)
I'm not trying to get you to cut these supposidly "Cheesy" elements out of your armies only to remember that its only a game and that you may be at fault as well.
So next time your facing a army which has got a element to it that you feel is to powerful/cheesy for the game take a minute, have a think and remember that your oppenant may be looking into your army and be think exactly the same thing.
Well what a brilliant summary you have there on what the chaos army is, i cant tell from this that you are a complete n00b who knows nothing.
Chaos are a combat army and you can say what you please about the knights and any other chaos unit you like but Iam sick of people putting chaos down, there is a reason that they are good in combat, its due to the fact that nothing in the chaos army can shoot anything, knights can be put down and killed by bolt throwers. cannons and organ grinders, pretty much anything that shoots so i wouldnt complain about knights if i were you althought you get your t3 troops one unit of them can kill most things in that chaos army, know you enemy before you judge it.....
