Well heres my list i've been building up for the last year. It includes no sorceresses seeing as i need 2 to be effective and cant be bothered wasting the points when DE have mediocre magic and overpriced mages.
Well here it is, give me hell!
Highborn, Gauntlet of Power, Crown of Black Iron, HA, SDC, shield, riding a manticore - 428 This guy is extremely useful for taking out armour (knights, high save infantry or steamtank) and to spread terror.
Noble, Great Weapon. HA, SDC, riding a Dark Pegasus - 139 This guy is a cheap and effective wizard hunter. Seeing as i have no magical defence his job is to kill the wizards. If theyre hiding in a unit he'll kamikaze and direct all attacks at the mage before going down.
Assassin, Additional Hand weapon, rune of khaine, dark venom - 164 This is probably my most controversial choice. I mainly picked him because of his coolness. In gameplay i'll either add him to the shades to give them some punch with their mission (whatever that may be) or hide him in the spearmen to help them survive.
20 Spearman with Shields and Full command - 185 This is one of my infantry blocks.
20 Corsairs Full Command - 225 My other infantry block, slightly better at combat. These are used to hold my battleline and get into combat with support from the chariots.
10 Crossbowmen - 110 A nice cheap unit for harrassment and flanking, they have a respectful (for Dark Elves anyway) 5+ save in combat and will advance with the bulk of the army adding some harrassment firepower. If the opportunity arises they will charge the enemy into a flank or support another unit.
10 Crossbowmen - 110 Performs the same role as the unit above.
5 Dark Riders - 90 These guys are an automatic choice for me, with so many uses - supporting combats, harrassment, baiting and hunting for war machines and mages. I would have liked crossbows but they are to expensive to fit in.
5 Dark Riders - 90 Performs the same role as the unit above.
5 Shades - 70 Never leave home without these guys! Perform the roles the dark riders do, but arent doing at the time. My opponents hate these guys and rightfully so!
Cold One Chariot - 95 Adds some hitting power to my battle line and used to support the infantry. Stupiditys annoying but you have to live with it.
Cold One Chariot - 95 Performs the same role as the unit above
Reaper Bolt Thrower - 100 Adds some firepower to my army. Thins out enemy lines before they reach me and causes panic tests. Very useful.
Reaper Bolt Thrower - 100 Performs the same role as the unit above
Whew, there it is. What can i improve? Criticism please.
Over all a nice list, though one thing I personally would change about it is the Assassin, what he can do you already have the noble on pegasus or shades to acomplish, for his price you could drop him and get a unit of Cold One Knights with SB. Another thing you have almost a quater of your army invested into One (two if you want to count the mount seprate) model. Personally I wouldn't invest that many points into such a model, I would put him on a dark pegasues, givving you a lil over a 100 points to spend else where. These are just a few suggestions of mine, I can see you probbly not taking my second one but that just my personal oppion, I rarely would invest that many points into a single model.
seems cool, but what are you going to do agains a force with super magic, it will get to you in the long run. Eg, undead horde, there will just be so much raised at little effort that you wont be able to hack them all down.
Very good in combat though, you just need to get there.
The poster formaly known as VampireSoul, formaly known as OrkSlugga now known as Orkslugga.
i know you have the chariots and youre characters but other than that it has very little hitting power, i like the hero on the manticore, that should work brilliantly if you use him right, but be carful and dont let him get charged. definetly drop the assasin you really dont need him, you have 2 heros that fly and shades, that should relly cover warmachines and mages, if you love characters take 2 nobles and put em on your chariots, that will give those chariots massive hitting power. just my 2 cents
