Yes I take them all the time
No I never do
I take them depending on who I fight
Here I am working up another WFB rmy list. Like I am most time, I was a few pts over the limit. When I was thinking about what I could remove to get to where I need to me. A buddy of mine looked over the list and said to remove the musicians. I started thinking about them then. How often am I normally tied for CR pts? Thinking back to the last few battles I was in. I don't think there was a tie once. So I removed them all from my new list. So I was wondering what you guys think. Just how useful are musicians for the average game and how many other people don't take them? Are the rules for them changing at all in the new edition coming out?
I just wanted to add, in case you're wondering, I play lizardmen.

I always take em. The points cost to upgrade someone to a musician is negligible, and when you tie a combat against someone else who has a musician, you'll be wishing you hadn't been too cheap to invest in one yourself.
My 40K Armies:
- Thousand Sons
- Mordian Imperial Guard
- Dark Eldar
My Fantasy Armies:
- Lhamian Vampire Counts
Plus they help with rally tests, which, depending on the LD of the unit, can be very valuable.
....And they also look nice.( Dicegods favour the better painted army, as you must have heard) Oh, and its much easier to write "FC" than champion and standardbearer.
Greetings from Sweden
Nice warhammer video
I always try to take them as well as full command unless I'm low on pts. You can win a tied combat which does happen quite a lot and is very important and can also rally easier which can sometimes save a whole unit. All for normally 10pts!
"Well... that hurt" - Vampire Jon Skellan (Mannfred's right hand man) after being beaten up, falling down an underground waterfall and being impaled by a stalactite.
I find the additional ld to rally a lot more than useful than the 'win drawn combats'
They are great if you play lizardmen, within 12" of the slann they are testing to rally on ld 10 cold blooded!
So i always take them, even in missile unit swhich aren't designed for combat (thunderers say) i still take a musician.
