Welcome to Librarium Online!
Well, my regular opponent uses:
2x5 CoK with Command
lvl2 Mage on steed with Web and Tome
Here is what im thinking of using vs him:
Lion Guard, HArmour, Shield, HWeapon
8 Silver Helms
Full Armour, Full Command, Lion Standard
TOTAL: 1000 pts
Stick the two RBTs close together in the middle, deploy both archer units so they guard the RBT flanks, stick the spearman reg to one side of the RBTs (make sure they dont block the archers LOS), the SH opposite in same place, and the Commander goes in the spearman reg, of course.
Use one unit of Archers to stick the DRiders, and the other to stick the seond DRider unit, or the chariot. RBTs will focus on CoK. If the Archers seem to do nothing, I will march them one turn, for them to be able to maul the RBT in the subsequent turn.
The mage will just have to be shot down or just ignored.
It looks good Slai, the COK will have a problem breaking your Spearmen and thus you take away their main advantage - breaking on the charge. The commander should be able to handle a few per turn or hopefully (maybe even consider challengening his champion to keep that extra attack out of the way).
I would say you should have some success with this list, and you tactics seem sound.
Good Luck to ya - May the Force be with you.... hm... yeah... So Slai!
I think that it looks really good. Those bolt throwers will really take away those COK's. Now, i dont really know how much they cost a piece but im sure that he spent a lot of his points on them and I dont feel they will do much against your list
Just make sure that sneaky druchii(sp?) doesnt have any dirty tricks up his sleeves that he isnt telling you about
Thanks alot for the nice feedback =) . Reassuring ***** that. More feedback is allways good, so keep'em coming.
He doesnt have any more tricks up his sleeve, I think. I have no idea what the Tome he uses does, but i think it has something to do with spellcasting (dont have his book here with me) .
I think it will surprise him and also have a fair chance of killing him. Abit worried about his mage, still... But thats all right. Where will it hide when the DRiders and the CoK are gone =P ?
Well the tome gives him an extra spell, but I wouldn't worry about his magic much. He'll be able to get off what? One spell maybe two a turn, but then you both should be in combat and most spells can be cast there.
Anyways good luck with the list
OK, another option:
Full Command, War Banner
5 Shadow Warriors
Seer Honour, Jewel of the Dusk
With this army, Id still stick the RBTs in the middle, with archers guarding the flanks vs DRiders, threathening to shoot them down. The Shadow Warriors will prevent march moves and maybe even take a potshots at the Mage and DRiders.
The Spearmen get deployed do the RBTs side, securing them even further from DRiders, and the Chariot is opposite it, on the other side of the RBTs.
One problem I do have with this list over the other one, is that the Chariot alone cannot really do much vs the CoK regs, so either it gets charged in turn 2 (if my scouts dont do what they are supposed to my any reason, or I have to charge in my turn. Either way, its gone. What I could do to eliminate this treath, is concentrate RBT fire at the CoK reg closest to the Chariot, clearing their numbers and hoping for a panic test. And slow down the other CoK reg (in front of the Spearmen) with the SW instead. This might work.
The mage would choose Curse of Arrow Attraction for the CoK reg thus making my RBTs hit more (on 2+ probably), and Fury of Khaine. Id use 2 dice on CoAA and 3 dice on FoK each turn. I might swap Fury of Khaine for Flames of the Phoenix, to further diminish his casting powers, as he has to dispel this with his power dice in his next turn unless he wants S4 hits on his CoK/Chariot/DRiders.
Arrow concentration remains the same: RBTs on 1 CoK reg, Archers on DRiders/chariot/RBT, and the Shadow Warriors on Chariot/DRiders/Mage.
Any thoughts on this list contra the other, or thoughts in general?
Read up on the Dark Elf magic, can be dangerous if he gets the right ones. For example that one that will allow you to move with one of the enemies units next round. Watch out for that, you dont wanna get charged in the rear by CoK's!
List looks good.
The way I see it is this:
I get 5 power dice, 3 dispel dice
He gets 4 power dice, 3 dispel dice
I cast DrainMagic at his mage (2 dice, on 7+), he should want to dispel it. And he must use 2 or 3 dispel dice for this.
If he dispels it, I cast Flames of the Phoenix (with 3 dice, on 11+) on one of his CoK regiments, causing S3 hits on all the models. Now... He needs to dispel that spell in his turn, using power dice to dispel it, otherwise his knights get a S4 hit each in my magic phase again.
If he ignores the DrainMagic and rather dispels FotP, then His max casting value with 4 dice will be 17 in total (max) due to DrainMagic, and that should not be too hard to dispel for me with my 3 dice (max 13 dispel power) .
If I cant reach his mage with DM, then I cast Curse of Arrow Attraction on his CoK reg and pummel it with RBT shots that hit suddenly hit on 2+ . And again, if he dispels it, I still have FotP for him to worry about.
As I see it, I overpower his casting abilities.
EDIT: meh, i figured my casting isnt as reliable as i thought... This may not work... Making a new list, and posting it as another post.
not a bad list, but honestly you arnt really fighting a hard list to beat, that is of course you get rid of the dark riders..... If you dont I have one thing to say to you, YOU ARE TOAST! Dark riders are horrendously deadly and effective, especially when combined with the charge of the cold one knights. But it looks like you have that covered, everything looks good to me.
very nice list against a DE army but if you wanna change it a bit...
i'd cut down the Silver Helms; i alays use them in units of 6 as you get the most base contact you can get on a charge and its nice and cheap. a full command is important though, and warbanner rules too.
with the points you free up you could swap your commander for a cheap dispel mage (Lvl 1, 2 scrolls, drain magic, fortune is fickle) if your worried about his spells
