I was wondering? Which army could you take where you take no options like magic items, command, heavy Armour, banners ,etc.... The only thing you give your general/heroes is equipment up grades only no magic items. And do you think they can hold up in a game.
Uhm...maybe Ogres. I've seen some people playing them with no upgrades in the units to increase the model count, and you can give your heroes non-magic weapons.
To be honest I defeated that no-upgrades list 5 times and I've always had between 150 and 450pts less then my opponent (it's a mission we play at my local store), when I had 650pts of Orks vs 950 of non upgraded Ogres I left him with 0 victory points.I can't say that list is going to hold many games, but I've seen him winning some games, maybe it just depends on the army you're going to face.
40k : Necron ,Chaos, Space Orks ,Eldar ,Dark Angels, 'Nyds
WHFB : Orks & Gobbos, Vampire Counts

Good topic, T-. I mean sirhuma.
I think WEs can do really well. I think you can go hero-light and have a really strong army with just the troops as they come. It's not like they get a lot of armor upgrades anyhow.
Lots of missile fire. Nasty forest spirits. Good infantry.
I agree with david. None of the wood elf troops -i believe- have any upgrades available to them except for the command units. And it is not too hard to go hero light, and just equip them with a great weapon or something of the like.
ex: wardancer hero with great weapon:w00t:
I was thinking WE could do it more so than any other elf army. I was also thinking just mass numbers could handle alot of armies .
well if mass numbers was able to just do it, then everyone would play something like goblins. what is it like 4pts for basic guy? Not saying this guys are bad by any means, but there is always many ways to counter anything in the warhammer world. massive numbers but at low WS. and more awkward moving. :w00t:
Actually I think a zombie horde without magic backup will get killed by something like a skaven horde. Higher unit count and higher movement would spell doom for the outnumbered outflanked zombies. Even if the fail a few fear tests.
If I was going pure horde, I would go skaven. This is all theory however, as I only play Vampire Counts so far...
Chaos Marauder Horde anyone? Talk about banking on your static combat resolution...:shifty:
