heres a list that most people wont like, but i thought it might be fun to play a few times. please dont just tell me it wont work, just give me some small changes that wont destroy the main idea of the army. Thanks!
sword of might
5 dragon princes
16 phoenix guard
If you played 100 games with this list,it would probably win 1. Because there is always 1 game where luck is on your side and horrible for your opponent. I dont know where to begin. The lord just sucks, there are unit champions that could kill that. 1 Mage wont do anything. 1 unit of spearmen wont do crap either, and the entire army has absolutely no focus. All it can do is charge up and try to win 1v1 combats. High elves cant do that...at all. Pheonix gaurd suck, hands down, worst unit in the army. White lions are mediocre at best,in that list i would trade them in for spearmen in a heartbeat. HE elite armies dont work, dont try to play them.
Shut up Admir, There is absolubtley no need for the things you said, it may be ineffective (In your opinion) but maybe give constructive criticism instead of random insults.
I actually think that with a bit of practice you could find that list to be very effective. Get the phoenix guard up to 20, a lot of infantry are 16 so you will be able to autobreak them. White lions are good if it is a terrain heavy board, maybe tool up the prince to lead the swordmasters instead of white lions, (SM honour and armour of Gods) Good to see people trying something different.
Im just saying that if you want a wide variety of units in your army,go play empire or dwarves. HE elites are best used as support units,so 15 models is too much, and PG are just sorta sucky. With only 1 20 man unit, you will bearly have a battle line. And if the army doesnt want to attack peicemeal(ie,doesnt want to lose) the cavalry would have to sacrifice their main asset-mobility. If you want constructive critisism, here it is:
with HE's,go defensive shooty, with cavalry for flanking,or all cav. Infantry armies can be very good, but HE infantry is hard to use,and their elite infantry really isnt intended to take on any other unit 1 on 1. The general formula is a 1:1/2:1 spearman/elite ratio. The elites used in squads of maybe 12,15 if you really are afraid of shooting. As it is,taking all 3 elite units in a 2k army just doesnt work. They dont have the numbers to swarm enemies, and dont have the staying power to win prolonged combat. Take out the PG and put in a unit of 20 spearmen. Spearmen are the cornerstone to infantry based HE lists. 20 of them will be much more effective than 16 pheonix gaurd,no matter how cool the pheonix gaurd may look/sound on paper.
Well this is a different kind of list so i shall try not to criticise it, Though i dont like it. Well i have never tried something like that but it might work so give it a shoot. ANd remember to support your maincombat unit wich would be the 16 white lions and btw take 20. And good luck wit that list
like i said this list was just for fun, thanks for your unbiased support and help. i played a game with it and i lost in a fairly close game, the main reason being that my opponent is not the best general and doesnt know how to play vamp counts. it was however very fun to play. the problem is losing with it consistantly would take the enjoyment out of it. if i did play this i think would drop the PG an up the other elite units. thanks again!
