Well i got logged out of the site and forgot my password,so this is my new name. But anyways. If anyone has ANY rumours on the seagaurd army list for HE i would appreciate them. Whoever posted the rumors about the seawvyrms and free shooting phase(*drool*),thank you immensly. I am wondering because if the list is both a. completely legal,ie usable outside SOG and b.good i will be making one to play in SOG this summer. Any info would be appreciated, thanx.
I heard somewhere that the LSG get 1 free shot before the game begins.. But then theyd have to be equipped with longbows instead of bows, as the depzones are 24" apart.
Anyways its just something I heard.
If its just the seagaurd as they are now,a free shot at the enemy still isnt worth it IMO. They just cost too much for anything short of a major defensive/offensive boost to their rules will matter.
Well from what I know the SG and RBT will all get a free phase of shooting before the battle begins, with NO range or LOS! They will be getting the drake like said, and they should be getting some sort of new magic or special spells.
Also I believe that the SG will NOT be 0-1 and will get a pts drop, the RBT stay as rare though. Hmm.. I think that's it.
I also heard that the RBTs will be a Special choice for that list.
What about some of the other units in the high elf list, will you be able to take the likes of the silver helms and the white lions?
Basically life sucks, there is only war and you're probably gonna get eaten by Tyranids, have fun.
I have come across some stuff on the portent forums, and several people who said they saw the SOG army book have promised the following:
1. The drake will be akin to dark elf war hydras,in that a character controls it. A mage controls the drake in this case. Its basically a dragon without wings but regeneration. Not sure if it counts as a mount for the mage,or a rare slot
2. RBT's are sadly still rares. They will be 1-3 per rare slot however
3. This is by far the most "were sorry for the crappy army book" rule. Lotheran Seagaurd may choose to reform ranks up to 2 adittional ranks as a charge reaction. That means 20 seagaurd can shoot in ranks of 10,then reform to 5x4 when charged. Along with the free shooting,it also means a point reduction is unlikely(although we can still hope they get their stupid sheilds for free)
4.2 new spells for the HE list
5. A new unit, which is a 2+ requirment. The weird part is their special choices. They work like shadow warriors almost exactly.
5.Only cavalry that can be feilded is ellyrian reavers.
The "shoot before the battle" rule is as followed:
all units of lotheran seagaurd, the new scout unit, and all RBT's may take a pre-game shooting phase, with no LOS or range required. This seems like one of those looks good on paper rules,my guess is that it makes up for the bad hitting power of our mainstay shooting weapon(bows).
Overall it looks not only playable but very fluffy. I think we are looking at a viable HE shooty army, and the lotheran seagaurd gained 2 new rules(free shooting and reform) with no point ups. The downsides should be obvious,im pretty sure you have to have 2 units of LSG,and with another 2 mandatory special choices, thats alot of points you MUST spend on shooters. It also limits your access to other special choices, and lets face it,we have a seawyrm and extra RBT's for rares,so i douht anyone will be going with PG or WL.
