I have a 1000 point battle coming up Friday for a league campaign. I will be bringing my Undivided mortal horde army against Ogres. I have only played Ogres once before in a 2000 point game and barely sqeeked out a draw.
I really need to pull out a victory against the Ogres or they will be knocking on the door to my capital. I have thought of putting 4 units of 5 Chaos Knights on the board and then taking a sorcerer for my hero choice. Do you think strength on strength is the way to go?
Personally I wouldn't do that. Knights are great but their strenght is in breaking units as soon as possible and moving to the next one.
A unit of normal (not chosen) Knights without a hero hasn't got much chance to do that.
I am using only one unit of chosen Knights with MoK with a hero, that gives enough power to brake any unit. I also like minotaurs (great weapon and MoK) + Chaos Chariot combo.
Again minotaurs by themselves don't have enough power to break a unit quickly, but add a chariot and watch the enemy suffer.
I really dont get why people hate Chaos Knights. Have you ever tried to play against 4 units of them? I had 4 units of 5 take apart my TK list at 2K, and the same army also made a mess of a great ogre army. So if you can get 4 units into a 1K list im thinking you should be fine.
Ogre magic isnt too bad, so i think youll be ok having a Fighty character rather than a sorc. Possibly have one or two Khorne units, for extra DD, just incase.
I am not saying I hate Chaos Knights, I actually really like them, but as I said "Personally" I woudn't use them without any support from characters or chariots. It might work for you I don't know.
