Welcome to Librarium Online!
Hey guys, while im still painting up the rest of my army to make 2k points, ive been playing around with a tzeentch list. The anchor of my list is my extremely strong general, hes strong in close combat and has a decent magic phase, even with only 2 spells. Let me know what you think -
1000 Pts - Chaos Army
5 Chosen Chaos Knights of Tzeentch 285 Pts
Mark of Tzeentch; Chosen Unit; Shield; Standard Champion
2 Spawn of Chaos 120 Pts
1 Exalted Chaos Champion 255 Pts
Mark of Tzeentch General Chaos Armour
Gaze of the Gods
Disc of Tzeentch
10 Chaos Warriors of Tzeentch 170 Pts
10 Chaos Warriors of Tzeentch 170 Pts
Casting Pool: 7
Dispel Pool: 3
ok ok not a to bad list but in a 1000pts game having 28 models is a bit risky maybe drop a spawn and a unit of warriors for some mauraders and get rid of the chosen on the knights also add a halberd on your exalted hope this helps
Im always 2 steps a head and one step behind you!
Your mind is a maze and only you have the map. (I lost mine years ago.)
I dunno.. 28 Models seems fine, A second Spellcaster would be nice tbh, just kep it a nice simple Sorcerer.
Chosen Knights are expensive at this level. But then again.. they are also a game winner
At 1000 points i would think about dropping chosen and picking up the banner of wrath to increase you magic offense.
Gaze of the gods make me nervous but i guess its fluffy for him to get turned into spawn.
Also 7 dice for 2 spells? Is to many and not efficient.
For these reasons i would change the magic items to Golden Eye and Spell Familiar.
Giving you a 3+ save vs magic and shooting and an extra spell to use that dice on. If you do drop chosen you should have the points for this and a flail and shield.
Never discount what a flying S7 character can do

Well i havnt had my lord turn into a spawn yet.. he actually normally wins most combats hes in, causing 5 wounds a combat phase will do that! He seems to be really strong in combat, and thats where the golden eye doesnt come into it. 7 power dice does seem too excessive for 2 spells, when i got the reroll on saves / hits / wounds spell (yellow fire?) he was a killer and single handedly won games for me when the chosen knights failed.
Ditching the "chosen" on the chosen knights and getting a sorcerer as well might be a good idea, add more sting to the magic phase and i will have more variety in spells, that could be quite good.
Giving the lord a halberd would negate my enchanted shield that he has atm, which is a 2+ armor save, although the model itself can carry a halberd and a shield at the same time

I really want to get the DoC army book to see if i can still get some demons in my army, i would like some screamers to potentially replace spawns / chosen knights (keeping normal knights) but i dont want to buy any models if they will be wasted
I use a very similar character. I wouldn't worry about the Gaze, the odds are fairly low that you will be fleeing during the magic phase, and to me its worth the risk. My version of this guy uses a halberd for 2+ wounds on T4.
I personally wouldnt use the chaos knights in 1000 points, instead I would get marauders and/or more chaos warriors and I would make one unit of the warriors chosen.
I like the spawn, I usually use 2 spawn. I like to march forward with a spawn on each flank, then if the enemy charges, flee so as to draw them into being charged by both spawn. Well thats the plan anyway...
Thats just odds i don't like, as in everything has to go your way for it to work. In my experience it only happens once in a lifetime.
Yeah the last game i had i got both magic missile spells and was never charged, so the gaze of the gods wasnt as effective as the golden eye of tz would have been, however as an offensive caster who can also fight i think i prefer it over the golden eye.
I believe even with not so good spells being rolled up he still has the opportunity to excel in close combat, just not be quite as effective as he could, a 15" move speed still means he can close with war machine crews and the like and a ward save is very handy for the hits he is bound to recieve from the said warmachines.
(that being said, i never got within 24" of the helblaster volley gun... that thing scares me >.<)
i really would like to be playing 2k point games where i can give him a lvl 4 wizard and spell familiar while still taking my melee options to give him more variety, but i guess i just need more models for that.
i have done up another 1500 point list (while adding only one more model) by fluffing up all my current models with pretty much their max upgrades, but i think its going to feel hardpressed against mass armies in the 1500 point range.
