I saw the new mortal list and I decided to build one.
I Tried to build a normal army selection: a few blocks of infrantry, 1 unit of knights, some screens and hunters and of course a chariot would fit in.
I know I have a lot of warriors (units of 17), but I like the models and they alway do great.
My question is, what do you think of my army... do you think it could use some changes? Is it fun to play against? e.t.
Any advice is welcome, but please explain why you think something could better be changed.
1 Exalted Champion of Chaos + Sword of Might + Enchanted Shield + Mark of Korne + Barded Chaos Steed.
1 Exalted Sorcerer of Chaos + Level 4 Wizard + Dispel Scroll + Dispel Scroll + Power Familiar.
1 Exalted Champion of Chaos + Halberd + Mark of Korne.
1 Exalted Champion of Chaos + Halberd + Mark of Korne.
19 Marauders of Chaos + Shield + Standard Bearer.
17 Warriors of Chaos + Shield + Chosen + Standard Bearer + Mark of Korne.
17 Warriors of Chaos + Shield + Mark of Korne + Standard Bearer + Champion.
5 Chaos Knights + Chosen + Mark of Korne + Standard Bearer + Champion.
1 Chariot of Chaos.
5 Marauder Horsemen + Flails.
This seems like a very solid list. Very similar to my list actually.. the only difference is I don't have any marauder horsemen... just because i don't own any
Now.. onto your characters... great choice of setup.. no comments here.
Core: Odd number of models per unit.. I'm assuming alot of your characters are going in these units which is fine. Will they be rounded out to 20? Are you going to have them 5 wide, 6 wide?
Special: Great job here too. I really dont think anyone needs more than 5 knights. Reasons: they're expensive, and they are powerhouses so 5 is perfect.
Lastly... No Chaos Spawns!? These are great. Unbreakable scares people. I took out Warhounds in place of spawns. It has been a great difference and I love the results. Pepole tend to hate unbreakable, they cause fear, randomized movement, and they have awesome stats for their point cost!
People tend to light them up with ranged attacks while the rest of my army gets into place to rip stuff apart. I'd seriously consider at least 1.

Yes I forgot to write down were everything goes e.t.
My each hero on foot will join a unit (a exalted for each warrior unit ... in 6X3 formation, and my wizard begins his game in the marauders).
I use the lore of shadow ... One of my weaknesses is my speed (infrantry), and because this lore has 2 spells of extra movement/charges (one for characters only wich is nasty for killing that anoying wizard hiding behind his units ... and the second is an extra movement turn for one unit).
I've played 2 battled with this list, one against tk and the other against beasts of chaos.
It was both a massacre in my favour.
I agree on what you said about the knights ... a unit of 5 with exalted is MORE then enough. So 2 would only ruin the game more.
Hmmm, well actually I think you make a great point about the spawns .... when I was against the beastmen the also had one. And they are very nice.
But would you seriously change them for the warhounds? They are great for a screen/baiting.
If you tell me it is worth it I will be happy to try it... thanks for the advice.

I would definately recommend trying a spawn. If you don't own any right now, you could just proxy one in (if the folks you play with are cool like that) to try it out. I did that with my chaos when I was first getting started. I used Orcs as my Marauders to see if I was going to like them before I tried 'em.
6 wide is a great formation for warriors - it's exactly what I run.
20 strong marauder unit is great.. dont change that..
I suppose you could drop 60 points worth of Hounds, and use the leftover points to beef up the first unit of hounds (if you have points left over.. dont have the list in front of me). IIRC, hounds are only 5 points each.. so you may actually have to drop all hounds to make this happen. Or you could drop one dispel scroll, and keep one unit of hounds.. that seems like a better option.
yea spawn rock this list rocks to so im not sure...
my list doesnt contain spawn but then again i havent finished making or painting so i cant test...

a unit of 6 hounds is 36 points. So I need to drop both units for a spawn.
this way I don't have a screen at all for my knights... wich isn't good either.
So I will drop one unit of hounds and one scroll for a spawn like you said.
I do hate it that they dropped the ''marks'' with the spawn.. I really liked the 3D6 movement (fiend of slaanesh).
I will give it a shot.
Overall looks good, although with a Lv4 Sorc, you may want another Lv2 or two to give your magic offence a real kick. I dont think you'd need 2 Scrolls then either. Also possibly give a Warrior unit the Banner of Wrath. Finally, drop the Knights banner. As i saw someone say recently, if they need the Res from a banner to win combat then something is wrong. Add Music to the Marauders, Maru cav, and Warriors.
yes, a level 2 wizard extra would be great. But in this list I could find the points for it.
And it means I have to sacrifice an exalted (it could be the one with the knights, they are fine without one).
So swap the exalted on te knights for a lvl 2 wizard? ...
I will write down the changes and put it together in a list.
Drop the Scrolls / Power Fam too if you need points.. an extra Sorc is always better i think.
i agree if you can get a scorceror in there than this list will rock (it was me who said about banner...).
exsta spells are always more important than a poxy power fam (great if you have maxed on scorcerors however).
yea if yu do this it will be a kik ass list...
