Welcome to Librarium Online!
For the next tournement I'm playing i made the next list after I experienced that i needed a flying lord. The idea is to have the warriors run through the middle with the knights on the left and right flank and the marauders support everything and to hold tablequaters. At the same time I'll try to get that dragon in their rear or flank.
crown of everlasting qonquest
2 x 12 warriors
banner and musicien
(no champion because I had to spare the points)
Please tell me what you think.
Ohh and I expect to see a lot Vampire counts, deamons and steamtanks
Why not put lances on a unit of knights to deal with steam tanks?
I don't know about the list in general. That dragon eats a ton of points, and you'll need to him to perform at a high level the entire game. You could field a lot of other units for the cost of that dragon.
Champion on knights are not worth the points, plus you have to challenge, so drop him from your knights. That should give you 5 more Marauders to bump them to 25 a unit.
An army as slow as yours would be eaten alive with magic. With only 2 scrolls and 3DD a magic heavy army will munch through your troops. Your dragon might be hard to take down, but the rest of the army is the opposite. That, and cannons, arrows, bullets will pepper the men alive.
To me your army is just slow. The Dragon may fly ahead, and your knights charge from the flanks, but the rest will have a hard time to catch up.
And when the Dragon falls (not if) you will be in big trouble......
Either drop the Dragon, or change the army altogether, is what I'd say.
All cavalry sounds nice as they could actually keep up with the dragon. And more scrolls won't hurt.
I see, How about this: instead of the lord on dragon a level 4 tzeetch disc rider, level 2 scroll cadie mark of nurgle and a level 2 slaanesh mage and also cutting one units of warriors to make one big one of 18 warriors. Haven't done the calculating yet but I think that should be around 2k. What do you think of that?
thanks for the comments by the way
I'd drop the lvl 2 slaanesh. There are a lot of spells that are too conditional or only work on units that aren't Immune to Psych. I'd add a BSB instead, an exalted to keep the enemy's fighting heroes honest.
I think the lvl 4 Tzeentch and the lvl 2 nurgle will do a lot. Put a power familiar on the nurgle guy and he has three dice all his own and the tzeentch can have six (his plus the army's). That's 9 power dice and a lot wallop. I think the slaanesh guy is overkill and won't survive as much purpose as an exalted would, especially a BSB keeping your units around.
I agree with Katz about the knight champ. I dropped mine after thinking about it. He costs a lot and from playing WEs, I've learned that there are lots of times a champ is a disadvantage. When you'd rather drop a load of attacks onto a unit or an enemy character, the lack of a champ is nice.
you only have to challenge with unit champions if you have a warshrine in your army. so as the list is the knight champion wouldn't have to challenge. still I'd leave the knight champ out to save points.
Chaos Warriors (2009) 16-4-9
Yep, Champions don't need Warshrines to get challenged. I see this as a drawback, as you have to accept and your unit's attacks will be divided or worse -- the champion dies right there, losing you loads of point that can otherwise pimp out your characters or army choice.
Tzeezntch Lvl.4 on disc, Lvl.2 Nurgle on steed, and a BSB on Disc is getting to be a trend these days. A question though: where does the PD from Power Familiar goes to? Some people says it goes to the bearer, some other says it goes to the pool. If it goes to the pool, then the Lord would have 7 PD instead. Otherwise, I'd have Lvl.1 Nurgle with Power Familiar -- he's cheaper than Lvl2. Slaanesh wizard is finicky, his Lore is too specialized for low Ld and non Itp armies.
After dropping the dragon, maybe fit in a pair of chariots or Ogres. They can provide the much needed punch for your army.
