I am currently playing a campaign, in which we have been using 1000pts for the first few weeks and are now upping the value to 1500. I am still new with Warriors, and have been massacred just about every battle I have played in. Here is the list I was thinking for 1500 games.
Exalted Hero (w/ Knights)
Book of Secrets
Chaos Warriors x12
Banner of Wrath
Marauder Horsemen x5
Chaos Knights x5
Banner of Rage
My plan was to deploy the Warriors and Chosen in the center, with Warhounds screening them. Put Helcannon on one flank, and Horsemen screening Knights on the other. We are using the Mighty Empires rules, so I also can add more points if I have the resources for it (I'll have another 100pts or so), which I was going to add another unit of Warhounds for screening the warriors, and maybe pick up another unit of Horsemen.
Any comments/suggestions or tactics would be GREATLY appreciated as I am tired of losing, lol.
First, if you have the models, you should take a peek at my list. we hashed it out and came up with an effective and fun list that focuses on speed and mobility. Link is here: http://www.librarium-online.com/foru...-new-post.html
I think the first thing i am noticing looking at your list is there are not enough models in it. You have put a mark on almost every unit when you might not really need them... A good rule of thumb is: just because a unit can take a banner, or mark, doesn't mean it has too. All armys work best when multiple units support each other, not when one unit is tooled up as a tactical nuke. Only Vamps get away with that, due to the abiltiy to bring more units later in the game. Also, MoK on a slow warrior unit can make it useless if your opponent knows what its doing. All they would have to do is put a unit thats faster in front of it and run away. At the very least, you might want some more doggies to insure that it doesnt get baited in this fasion. I think if you hacked away a bit of the fluff on this list, you could get another unit of marauder horsemen or some more warriors. maybe a unit of ogres? they are pretty cheap for what they can do.
I dont think you need the MoN or the banner on the knights. They are mobile enough that you should really be trying to get them to swing out to the side and get the flank charges. the warriors are there to hold a unit down for a turn so you can mop them up with the knights. If you can get them into combat, they will do just fine without it, after all, they already have a 1+ armor save. I would consider putting it on the warriors though, IMO it allows them to face down a wider variety of foes and insures that they fight what they want, when they want. With shields they can hold down quite a few different types of enemies long enough for your knights to finish them off.
i am not sure i like the Hell cannon. We are warriors, we go up and get stuck in to taste the blood of our foes! lol, that being said, i have never actually played with one, so take my advice with a grain of salt.
One thing i have found though is that a unit of monsters (dragon ogres, giant, Trolls) can be very usefull. people tend to respect them more than they really warrant. In my last game, my opponent focused all his shooting and magic on my Dragon Ogres, and allowed me to get all my other forces close enough to charge unopposed. This was WELL worth the 200 or so points i spent on them, and i didnt even loose the unit. pretty good stuff, never underestimate psychological warfare.
My last bit of advice is Magic. At 1500 points, you can generate 8 PPD with 2 lvl 2 sorcerers (2 for army, 3 for each sorcerer if you take power familar) This is pretty decent and a lot of lists would have a hard time dealing with that much magic. I also tried sticking a sorcerer on a chariot and that worked VERY well. Just watch out for STR 7 attacks!
Well i dont know if anything i said is worth a damn, but maybe it will at least get the ball rolling for ya.
