Hey guys. I used this list today and got a minor victory against an HE player. The chosen unit is rediculous. With constant rolling and favor of the gods you are bound to get a rediculous unit. I felt bad fielding it acctually. It took on a block of White Lions from the front and a 7 man unit of Swordsmasters on the flank and it killed both units after 3 round of combat, and it only lost one guy. Is this too much? Should I feel bad for fielding this unit.
But my strategy for this army is to use a battle line. Here is a simple little illustration:
Then I run my faster units to handle the flanks. The warshrines are gold for protecting my rear. My enemy had two units of cav sitting behind my lines and didnt even know what to do with them. The list is slow, but I do have some speed.
Things I am questioning:
1) My speedy units. Whether they are a good combo. Im debating between my M horsemen being redirectors of frenzied hammers.
2) If have enough Magic Defense. I did go up against a level 4 and level 2 with banner of sorcery from HE though without too much pain. Both took metal too.
3) I am debating whether I want to skim points for bloodcurdling roar on my disk exalted.

I find that anytime I do not have the Roar, I always wish I had found points for it. It seems to always make its worth back and then some, point wise as well as usefulness wise.
Magic Defense is really dependent on your meta, but it seems to be a little light, but as long as you can either nab some magic resistance, or weather the storm a bit, you should be fine.
I would be cautious having your General mounted and in the unit with the Banner of Rage, seeing as he will be fairly easy to bait out.
I am more concerned by the size of the actual Chosen, than anything. I think it might be a bit on the small side of things for a deathstar, but maybe that is just me. I might try to either switch the warriors for faster things to increase it, or at least tone them down to a unit. Again though, that's me.
It's Adventure Time!

Ya I think Im gonna cave and put roar in the next game. My disk guy is also meant to hunt down mages to help with my magic defense, but I cant do much when they just poke their heads out of a forrest. I will just yell and taunt them if they want to do that.
Ya Im a little worried about the general, but the list is still in the testing stage so Im going to see if it hurts me. I keep the unit screened with dogs and if I see they are trying to bait him out I can move a warshrine up on the side of a unit to block him if they are trying to drag hiim out from the side. It is risky but Im gonna see if I can just use some manuvering to avoid bad things for now.
Well I honestly didnt even intend for this unit to be a death star. It just kinda happened. MR3, +1 Toughness, and a 4+ Ward will do that. The MR helped me dispell at least two of those Forge spells. They survived a number of bolts, and like I said took on a block of white lions from the front and 7 swordmasters on the flank and I lost a total of one guy all game. I dont know if I want this unit bigger since it seems to be a nice size, and the bigger I make it the more it will just get avoided.
Well I am not quite sure how much of an actual deathstar list this is but it seems not too bad. The general idea of the deathstar is to have a large investment of points within 1 fairly unkillable unit. Still a pretty solid list, but not a deathstar by any means. I also think you have gone a bit overboard on the exalted heros. Just keep in mind that you don't have a lot invested in the chosen unit and a lot of intelligent people will just target the rest of your army and bait the chosens around.
Ya this probably isnt a death star really. Its not enough points but still is tough as nails.
I think you hit a good point on going too hardcore with exalteds. Im thinking about dropping the guy in the chosen unit. I thought hed be a great value since hes only 130 points and he will gain two god rolls. But that unit is already rediculously killy enough. I dont know if its worth having him in there. Its just more points in a unit they may ignore. Plus its not like Im adding a lord killer by putting him in there. He is just another 5 Str 6 attacks with ok defense. If I drop him I can add two chosen to keep the unit at 12, and use the rest plus a few scrapped points to add another chariot.
That might be worth it since it ill give me even more mobility. 2 chariots, 5 horsemen and 5 knights gives me good speed. With my battle line marching up the middle, and those fast/killy units on the sides, it should be difficult to ignore me.

How come you did not fit Festus in this list?
If you want a deathstar i think you can't go around without that guy and he doesn't cost too much points either (for what he does).
Eh death star was probably too stong a word. With three defensive buffs this unit is almost unkillable which is why I said death star. My bad.
But running him does make sense, but he cant hold scrolls, hes expensive if I dont want a heavy magic phase, and I am very anti special characters. There are a number of people at the first shop I went to that just love that crap and they love running their pocket lists with unkillable lords. Im only a fan of them in big games because they dont make sense in 2000-2250 point games. Did teclis really come down to lead this small army? No.
But ya my real goal was to make a cheap unkillable unit and have a stubborn battle line. All this while running some fast stuff down the flanks. I leave the enemy with nowhere to go. Big nasty stubborn warriors and beefed chosen come up the middle, and then knights and chariots are running up the flanks. They will have nowhere to go.
I see your point and can clearly see that you put great thought in it.
Today i played the list i had posted in the other thread where you first mentioned deathstar:
And managed to get a minor victory against DoC which was running the masque, a keeper o S, and a herald with a banner which gave -2 on my ld. In fact the list is called leadership bomb or something like that.
I am very happy for this as the first to games i played against that list where a complete failure and i was running level 4 tzeentch and other heavy magic. SO as from today i am going back to my close combat roots
Ya I gave up on magic for serious games. Our magic is just too unreliable and not as good as other armies. Im really learning that being bogged down to a single lore is not nealy as good as having access to all 8 of the common lores.
But ya I really would go full combat. We are chaos so its a great way to go. One caddy has been good enough imo, but two is a bit safer. Plus you still get a magic phase with a caddy. Its almost more exciting because if he somehow gets a spell off I am extatic. Even if the spell doesnt do anything its a massive moral boost.
But ya Ive tweaked the list and ill keep posting how it does. I shoud get 2-4 games in this weekend so Ill tell ya how it does. The one thing Im trying to decide between is:
1) Two naked knight units
2) one naked knight unit and two chariots of Slannesh (one being a caddy cart)
I'd go for the second option. I tried it yesterday and the caddy cart survived 3 turns of combat giving me the chance of getting my cruise missiles and my knights to the rescue.
