Lord-I love chaos lords, mine has 7 frenzied strength 6 attacks, and a 0+ armor save.
Sorceror Lord-Pandemonium+Infernal puppet=bye bye enemy wizards, flying disc lets him snipe war machines as well.
Exalted Heroes-Banner of the Gods works well with Pandemonium and the Hell Cannon. Axe of Khorne works wonders in Duels and for chopping up tough opponents like Ogres and Trolls.
Sorceror-Dispell man, and if I don't roll well for pandemonium, spell familiar can grab it.
MoK warriors-21 strength 4, WS 5 frenzied attacks is nice. Great for butchering low armor units.
MoT warriors-Great Blockers and good for soaking up arrow fire (3+armor save and 6+ward)
Marauder Horseman-The usual flankers and skirmisher killers.
Warhounds-Great Anvils and meat shields.
Chosen-Practically immune to magic and arrow fire, are great for butchering enemy monsters and other heavy infantry. If I roll well on EotG and they cause terror or fear, can be used in conjunction with Pandemonium and the Hell Cannon.
Chaos Knights-Shred through enemy lines, excellent hammers. Fear and magic weapons is also nice. ( I stick my battle standard Bearer with the MoTs and My General with the MoK)
Hellcannon-Great for blasting apart lowl leadership units, great at self-defence from machine snipers.

Here is a tip for you (IMO); warriors w/MoK and +hand is 4 S4 attacks, but if you give them halberds it turns into 3 S5 attacks.
Statistically warriors usally hit on 3s or 4s (66-50%)
At S4 you usally needs 3s or 4s to wound (66-50%)
totaling it up you deal out 43-25% wounds at minus 1 to armour saves
But with S5 it brings it up to 2s and 3s to wound (83-66%)
making a different total of 54-33% wounds at minus 2 to armour saves
In all respects I think that 20 S4 attack to 15 S5 attacks is no contest.
In regaurds to the rest of the list "there is always a better way, even if you keep following the better way your'll be going in a circle."
What flavor is your failure.
