So, I've had a few games with my list of late and after getting massacred by lizardmen knew some things had to change.
Please have a look at the list below and see what you think. The main area I am having issues with is the core units, ie the warriors and marauders. I was running 2x 12 warrior units before but thought this may work better. What do you guys think? Areas? for improvement?
Lord+lvl4+MoT+disc+golden eye+spell fam+book of sec+en shield=390
18 warriors+MoS+shields+halberds+m+sb+rap std=354
6 knights+MoN+m+sb+war ban=325
6 knights+MoN+m+sb+ban of rage=335
3 Dragon ogres+gw's=231
Total = 2500
Looks like a solid list to me man. Perhaps make the other lvl 2 wizard nurgle as well, since throwing around 2 buboes a turn makes it that much better. But that's playstyle. Other then that you should be able to handle most threats thrown at you.
Allow me to put a word in here.
Your Engine of the gods murderer, aka, exalted hero does not have the optimal setup for stegadon slaughter. I'd advise you giving him bronze armor of zhrakk for immunity to terror. He can keep the collar, mr is always handy.
Ditto with what was said before, look at cloying quagmire and look at lizardmen stats. Giggle at saurus warriors and cold ones.
I doubt the exalted champ is meant to take out stegadons and other large monsters, probably more for busting chariots, killing war machines, and smaller skirmishing units. To be honest even with a 5+ ward and good armour save, a stegadon could kill him over 2 rounds of combat. The dragon ogres are whats supposed to take out stegadons and the like. And yes cloying quagmire has done great things for me against lizardmen.
An exalted hero doesn't have to target the stegadon first, he can just waste the priest on top. Bronze armor of Zhrakk does double duty against lizardmen, immunity to poison means that he's safe against skink spamming. They've gotta get 36 shots at him (6's to hit and 6's to wound) to get him to need to save a wound. Then factor in the 2+ armor save and the 5+ wardave means that exalted won't be touched by skinks.
Also the stegadon needs 5's and 6's to hit, he's got a 2+ armor save. The exalted is pretty safe, the stegadon and its crew are dead meat.
Cheers for the thoughts guys.
The exalted is indeed to be a jack-of-all-trades ie war-machine/skirmisher hunting and I had intended for him to eliminate those annoying priests on top of the EOTG. Here I think you have a very good point about the bronze armour. I think the idea to drop a warrior to get it on the exalted is great, I'll defenitely do that.
The list is meant to be an allcomers, which is why I've just started thinking about using a hellcannon!!!
Has any used these and are they worth the points? Not sure what I'd drop to get it, but just an idea I'm palying around with.
