Welcome to Librarium Online!
This is a 2000pt list designed around a deamon prince and 4 units of knights. It is for use initially in club games but I will eventually develop it into a tourney list so I quite want to get it right! I don't have my book on my unfortunately so bear with me on the names of a couple of the gifts on the prince.
Deamon Prince: gift of minus D3 to shooting attacks, gift of 4+ ward and magic res 2 against spells, lv 4 wizard, MoT: 515pts
BSB: golden eye of Tzeentch, biting blade, shield, disc, MoT, bloodcurdling roar: 220pts
sorcerer: 2 scrolls: 135pts
3x10 marauders: MoS: 150pts (50pts each)
2x5 dogs: 60pts (30pts each)
4x5 knights: MoT: 920pts (230pts each)
The 3 units of marauders will try to stay out of trouble and grab table quarters, the caddy will hide with them. The Deamon Prince and BSB will fly around together (so the prince can reroll his stubborn Ld and cause general havoc. The knights will generally go up each flank and attempt to roll up the enemy line, with the dogs in support to redirect charges etc.
I would use Nurgle not Tzeentch on this DP setup.
Use him to go hunting war machines and archer blocks.
As the army is rather small rot glorious rot will help thin out units and as he will be in the thick of things anyway it has good synergy.
Even more so than gaateway as it will allow you a way to deal with mass diverters and blockers something that could seriously hurt this list
Regen will help keep your small number of units alive, Plague Squall is good against hoard armies like goblins and skaven, quagmire against dwarves or human knights, Curse is good against zombies, goblins and skaven slaves.
So in summary the lore of nurgle will assist you against many of the sort of things an army with a low unit count can suffer against, specialty as you will be out deployed most of the time.
I question the knights mark also
MoS and Standard will give better combat resolution
MoN will protect against shooting better
MoK will make them monsters in combat if you think you can keep them under control.
MoT just makes them expensive bretonians and worse at it.
Think about loosing the biting blade for a flail he can go chariot hunting it will also make room for a book of secrets so he can cast a fireball while he is hanging around the DP.

oops, I'm not surprised you question the marks on my knights, I meant to give them all MoN and that is how their points are calculated! That was a mistake, it should be 4 units all with MoNurgle. I do think maybe I should give 1 or 2 of the units MoKhorne to give them that extra bit of punch, in my previous list I always had a unit with the frenzy banner, but just didn't have the points for it. Do you think the MoN might seriously diminish the prince's survivability though? I've also realised that I forgot to factor in the points cost of the prince's mark, so I will have to drop a unit of dogs and possibly the MoS off one of the marauder units to get a mark in plus the book of secrets on my BSB I really like that idea! I was umming and aaing for a while about whether to take a sorcerer or a BSB to back up the prince and your way I can take both.
Seriously diminish no, If he casts regen on himself he is tougher than a tz DP, without it slightly weaker.
The problem with a DP is that he is to expensive to have cowering at the back casting spells (a sorcerer lord can do that better and cheaper). He is also not good enough to break blocks infantry singlehandedly.
What he can do is be highly mobile and pick off things like warmachines, missile troops and fast cav. Support other units in combat and terror bomb.
If you want to stay tzeentch then i would swap the mantle for tendrils.
your demon prince is 60pts more then what you listed, just to let you know.
Yeah I think I'm going to go with Nurgle on my Prince. Not 60pts more than I listed though is it? I calculate him at 545pts with what I've given him plus the mark. I also think I should drop the marks off my marauders (they are going to do very little anyway) and all the dogs and make my sorcerer another disc rider. Then I can have the prince (as shown +mark of nurgle), a BSB with a disc, stream of corruption, book of secrets and maybe a talisman to give him a 5+ ward and 2+ armour save. I can then take a sorcerer with a disc, bloodcurdling roar, golden eye and a scroll. I think that would be very effective. The rest of my army is 3x10 naked marauders and 4x5 knights with MoNurgle (possibly 1 or 2 with MoKhorne).
