This is my first list and I'm contemplating buying a giant in stead of the hellcannon. I figure a MoS Giant which strikes 1st could be pretty devastating. I would love feedback. Also Can I bring 3 favor of the gods items or am I limited to just one per army? Oh and this list conforms to rumored percentages: <25% Lord/Hero, >25% core, <50% special, <25% rare
Welcome to the winning side of Fantasy mate.
Firstly, you can't take duplicates of any item now. Not Scrolls, Not weapons, Not Favour of the Gods. Sorry.
Exalted: Looks good to me. Very killy.
Sorcerer: Should be fun.
Warriors: They are fine but I prefer my guys in 12's. the 6 warrior on the front is nice and lets you kick out extra attacks. The Extra rank you have is nice but if you loose 1 guy from shooting you've lost you nice rank bonus. It's also cheaper to have them in groups of 12 letting you spend points else where.
Is there a reason you went with Mark of Slaanesh? In all honesty there's no much point taking it with the new rules. you might as well not bother and use the points for other things or grab another Mark.
I'd also consider grabbing Halberds on your Shield warriors. Str 5 is horrendous at initiative 5.
Marauders: Grab these guys Tzeentch. This way they'll benefit from a 5+ Ward save in combat.
Chosen: Bump these guys up to 12 models. Loose the Banner of wrath. It's alot of points and isn;t very useful.....I've tried it and it really isn;t worth the points. The banner of Rage on the other hand......is worth it.
See I like Hell cannons. They're just good at everything you want them to be. They're a decent sit back and blast stuff unit but I think they fit the role of a Giant just as well. They're Unbreakable so will hold stuff up like a giant. They're killy like a giant and they're hard to kill like a giant. Hell Cannons are cheaper though.
what do you think of 2 units of 14 or 16 warriors of Chaos? Granted if I bring 2 rows of 8 then I think one guy is left out of combat right? Hmmm. Also do we get 25% for lords then 25% for heros? And lastly why is slaanesh useless now? Is the will of chaos good enough for panic tests in 8th edition or something? thanks.

A unit of 8 Warriors is a bit wide. The wider the unit is the harder it is to manauver and use. Keep to 6 models and you should be alright. 12 or, if you have the points, 18 warriors is a good unit size. you could go for 14 Models if you like. It could be fun actually but you might not get all your models in combat should someone have small bases.
Aye you get 25% Heroes AND 25% Lords. you could in escence have 50% of your army in characters but you'll have trouble winning games with so few rank and file models.
The thng with Terror is it now causes fear but causes an immediate Panic Test. As Chaos Models have the will of the gods rule they can re-roll this. As they can re-roll panic the only thing you need worry about is Fear. If you buy a BSB you can re-roll every Leadership test, that includes breaktests, Fear tests, stupidity tests and so on, so you should rarely sucumb to anything should you choose to take a BSB.
In that case should I lower my Warriors to 2 groups of 12 and use the saved points from the MoS to buy another sorcerer... perhaps Xzeentch? Or should I change my one sorcerer into a Lord. I really need to get my hands on this flipping rule book, I bet my FLGS has one. Oh and as long as I have your attention is there a big change in the way that the Hell cannon will operate?
Units of 12 Warriors are fine. You just to make sure they're dead killy. I'd either go for 2 hand weapons or Halberds and then consider the Mark of Khorne to get even mroe attacks. It's expensive but it's worth it. I've got a unit of 12 warriors with 2 hand weapons and the banner of rage (4 attacks each!) and they're just an amazing unit in the new rules.
Another Sorcerer could be interesting and would give you some extra spells to work with. A Lord however gets Lore of Heavens and the Lore of Shadow. Both of Which are really nice Lores. Personally i'm liking the look of Shadow. The Number 6 spell lets a unit use their LD as their Strength. Remember those 4 attacks each? Now they're str8.
A nasty little trick you can do is just buy a Level 1 wizard with the Skull of Katam (so your other wizard benefits as well) and then get him the 3rd Eye of Tzeentch. If there are any other Wizards about he can use their spells (all the ones they know) instead of his one measly spell.
No Idea if they're changed the Hell cannon. The Monster and handlers rules have changed a wee bit in regards to the handlers but thats about it. the Hell cannon does get stomp like the other monsters though. Which is nice.
Well biggest change for Hellcannon gonna be that you can place a marker for its shot instead of guess range, as it shoots like a stone thrower (and it is still str 5/10 under hole, where stone thrower is only str 3 now)
With a slow army like this, i would prefer a warshrine, it can make your slaughter unit to a deathstar, also as borak wisely said, drop MoS in 8th edition, your BSB should keep you safe, also consider MoK instead, it is expensive, but a damn lot worth it.
Wait a second Lord Borak did you say that giving the Marauders mark of Tzeentch would give them a 5+ Ward save? How does that work? Normally in 7th edition it would bestow just a 6+ ward save does 8th change that somehow????
You get a 6+ ward save from using hand weap and shield, and with MoT that stacks it will give you 5+ ward save
