Basically, been planning to start fantasy for 8th ed, settled on WoC so i've been playing around with lists. Going for a generally tzeentch themed force and the following is what I have come up with. I've never played fantasy before so there may be some junk in it but I thought I would stick it up and see what people think
lvl2, MoT, golden eye of tzeentch, power familiar
bsb, helm of many eyes, glaive of putrefaction
hw/s MoT, musician, standard
halberd, shield, musician, standard
(shield included simply for modeling purposes, if anyone has any good convertion ideas for the halberds i'm open to hearing them)
light armour, shields, MoT
(kind of happy with it up till this point)
My basic plan was to pick up the battalion, an extra box of warriors and marauders and then work on some convertions for the heroes, Beyond that I wasn't 100% sure.
Looks like a good Starter list to me! You've got a bit of everything which is good. Gives you some nice untis to test out tactics and the like.
Wizard looks fine. You probably don't need the Powerstone though. With only one Wizard you wont need 1 extra Power dice as you should have around 7 to play with. Maybe go with the 3rd Eye of Tzeentch or maybe the Spell Fmailiar for another spell!!!
BSB: Not a fan of the Glaive myself. It's very situational. I'd consider making him a bit more surviveable. At the moment he's T4 witha 4+ save. That's not enough to keep him alive. Either go for the Mark of Tzeentch and a shield for a 5+ Ward or take the Talisman of Endurance and Mark of Tzeentch for a 4+ Ward. You can then take a Halberd for some choppy action. Who does he go with anyway?
Warriors look fine to me. I'd condier some of the cheapo Magic Banners. Flaming weapons can be handy, so can +1 Leadership.
Marauders are fine but grab them a banner. Some missions revolve about having banners left at the end of the game. Some Missions are objective based and only units with a Standard can claim.
To be honest chariots are fine. They're great support units for Marauders. The AMrauders suply the Ranks and the Chariots suply the kills to win. Use them as one unit.
Spawn are fine. They're great to get in the way and generally cause mischief.
I think that third eye was what I had actually meant in the first place so I can put that along with the ward save then. I like the idea of being able to steal the opponents spells and use them myself.
Survivability sounds good and a halberd would work nicely for conversion purposes. I really wasn't sure where I was going to put the bsb myself. Never played fantasy before and I have based a lot of this on what other people have been saying online about things. The character placement in general was one of the things that I wasn't too sure about and was probably going to play around with once i started playing. See what I liked.
The flaming weapon banner was a consideration. Reckon that it links in nicely with tzeentch fluff and also could be fun to model. It would just be a case of rejigging some of the points to allow for it.
I think that i could probably grab the points for most of your suggestions if I dropped a spawn. Would it be ok taking just the one? would of course be aiming to have him backed up.
