It's been a while since I posted anything in the forum... Well I thought I'd share with you the list that made me won the semi finals (very close fight, I won by 2 pts overall). I am posting this list mainly to share with you what worked and what didn't. As you'll see many ideas have already been mentioned in this forum.
Chaos Lord: Mark of Tzeentch, Halberd, Dragon Helm, Talisman of Preservation, Crown of Command; 318 pts
--- 3+/3++, S6, Stubborn + Ironcurse Icon for the unit he's in. Follows the warriors with Banner of Rage so he gets +1 A.
Sorcerer Lord: Lvl 4, Conjoined Homunculus, Blood of Tzeentch, Crown of Everlasting Conquest, Enchanted Shield, Lore of Shadows; 385 pts
--- 2+/Regen4+, Humonculus and Blood of Tzeentch makes him the king of control in the magic phase. Miscasts are very rare on 4 and 5 dice. Humonculus saved his butt a couple of times with a poor or risky dice throw.
Exalted Hero: Army Battle Standard, Mark of Tzeentch, Shield, Chaos Steed, Soporific Musk, Sword of Might, Talisman of Endurance; 236 pts
--- Excellent trade off between defence (1+ Sv, 4+ ward) and offence (S6), never got killed in all my games.
Chaos Sorcerer: Lvl 2, Mark of Tzeentch, Spell Familiar, Collar of Khorne, Charmed Shield, Ironcurse Icon; 190 pts
--- This guy is the cheapest lvl3 you'll get. Charmed shield is excellent against your first miscast. He's also a portable MR2 giver.
18 Chaos Warriors: Mark of Tzeentch, Full Command, Shield, Rapturous Standard; 358 pts
--- Sorcerer Lord goes here, he bails out with Smoke and Mirrors (exchanging for the lvl2). The unit works wonder as an anvil. I keep the army battle standard near.
18 Chaos Warriors: Mark of Tzeentch, Full Command, Shield, Halberd, Banner of Rage; 391 pts
--- Chaos Lord and Sorcerer Lvl2 are inside this unit. The whole unit is Stubborn ld9, has Mark of Tzeentch + MR2 and the ironcurse Icon against war machines. These guys are brutal and are always in the tick of it, they take heavy losses thought. The real trick that enhances greatly the unit is having the Lord with a Crown of Command. Since your stubborn you just don't care if you're flanked.
2x 5 Chaos Warhounds
--- Speed bumps, war machine hunters. 2 units no more no less.
8 Chaos Knights: Mark of Tzeentch, Musician, Standard Bearer, Blasted Standard; 410 pts
--- Army Battle Standard inside. This is a big juicy target but the Blasted Standard makes sure you get into the fight with enough guys even against heavy gunlines. Soporific Musk is incridibly usefull and enables you to catch fleeing opponents. Most importantly you get a free reform if it was on a charge: this makes a lot of difference against some opponents, notably gunlines.
6 Chaos Knights: Mark of Khorne, Musician, Standard Bearer, War Banner; 325 pts
--- Well this guys are brutal and can plow through about any units. The War Banner is a good choice since it helps even out the enemy rank bonus, especially when you're down to less than 3 knights.
1 Chaos Chariot
--- Useless in my list. Got killed way too easily. Will replaced next time.
--- This guy is the arch nemesis of any units with S4 or less. You need to follow two rules:
Rule no. 1, don't shoot with it except against a dragon or in a last turn if out of charging range. Believe me, forget the "cannon" part in the name.
Rule no. 2, get the cannon as fast as possible in combat.

Nice glad you won, or who ever ran the list won
What armies did you play against what did they look like. I also took first at ard boyz what army did you pick.
I was running the WoC list. First game was an empire gunline, then a bye and last a dwarf gunline.
Empire gunline was an even game, I think I lost by 16 pts and we both had lots of bonus pts. He had 3 cannons, 2 rocket battery, 2 blocks of swordsmen, 2 units of 10 knights (one with great weapons), 1 unit of crossbows, 1 hero on pegasus, 2 wizards (I think lvl3 and lvl4), war altar. We played the scenarios with miscasts on any double (Humunculus and Blood of Tzeentch really helped as my sorcerers were inside the warrior units...).
As for the game against the dwarf we played the scenario where we had two units sent as reinforcements from any side (won a major victory with all bonus pts). He had 2 cannons, 2 catapults, 2 organ guns, 10 miners, 20 thunderers, 1 block of dwarf warriors, 1 horde of longbeards (scouting), 1 horde of hammerers, he had only 2 characters a Thane and a Runesmith I think. He basically made two mistakes, he deployed his longbeard on my flank (they never did anything as I managed to reduce their movement with Miasma for 2-3 turns) and all his shooting was line up for my reinforcement (which were the 6 khorne knights and chariot).
My favorite thing about this list is that I already have all of these models!
Anyways, what would you pick up in place of the Chariot? I'm thinking a Warshrine and another Chaos Knight for your 8man regiment (up it to 10 with a character).
I agree entirely with your Hellcannon rules. The thing is NOT a gun. However, one situation where it works wonders is if you can throw Pandaemonium on a Low-LD army, and then force Break Tests on their regiments.
Good job on the win though!
Well going against empire a bye and then dwarf wow you had it easy, first round for me was Daemons second round was Daemons and third round was HE with Tecils.
Thank you all for your congrats (and congrat to Reddawn to). Yeah I was pretty lucky and the final results were very close also.
As for what I would change, both your ideas are very good. The warshrine is good at point denial and can boost troops. Fitting Favour of the Gods might prove difficult however. Making a 10 knight unit might be good and with the Blasted banner it's perhaps the safest spot to put the horsemen.
My personal idea would be to add a small unit to deal with shooting units and warmachines. Personally I would go with a small unit of 3 ogres. Ogres are pretty fast, resilient and can lend a hand in combat. I am pretty sure I would have to drop a Khorne Knight to create the unit.

To me, changing the chariot to a warshrine is a no brainer.
