Hi guys, after long break I'm returning to WFB. Assembled this list yesterday and will be glad to hear any hints/comments.
(shadow/shadow,shadow/death, in the warriors unit)
5 Marauder Horseman + Flails + MoK: 115
(warmachine/wizard hunters, hopefully turn 1 charge)
6 Warhounds 30
(screening & baiting)
18 Warriors + Mot+ Shield 308
5 Knights+Mot+Mus: 230
(not sure if it's worth it)
Any advice appreciated

as per the faq if u have the book it converts u into a level 1 sorcerer with 1 spell, so might not be worth it for him
Hmm, do you mean this FAQ http://www.games-workshop.com/MEDIA_...FAQFeb2009.pdf ? As far as I understand it BoS doesn't negate other magic levels of the bearer

There's a new FAQ out for 8th Edition. http://www.games-workshop.com/MEDIA_...s_2010_v11.pdf
Basically it now 'makes' your character a Level 1 sorcerer and he knows one spell from the Lore of Shadow, fire or Death. Giving it to a sorcerer nowadays is fairly pointless as it makes them a Level 1 regardless of what they were before. The bonus it gives now though is, now it 'makes' your character a wizard your exalted champion/lord with the item can then take arcane items and what have you. It's all good.
You can try this little fella out. He's a good all round character.
Exalted, Tzeentch, BoS, Shield, Dragon Helm, shield.
With these items he has a 2+ AS, a 5+ Ward, gets +2 to cast and knows 2 spells. Not bad.
Other than that I would remove Khorne from your Horsemen. Frenzy is going to pull them off your intended target. It's not as bad as it used to be but LD7 isn't reliable. How about taking Slaanesh? You wont be taking panic tests for shooting casualties or such like. With saved points you could then grab your warrior uit a standard and a magic banner. The radiant standard isn't bad considering your don;t have a BSB.
Thank you LB for deep and insightful reply. Wondering about 2 spells on exalted, as I see it, one of the shields was supposed to be spell familiar, right?
When it comes to MH, will they pack enough punch without MoK ?
Standard for Warriors was definitely something I was looking into, will invest spare pts there.
This is just my opinion so don't take my word as gold but if you need the mark of Khorne to beat an enemy unit then you're charging the wrong units. Light Cav are exactly that, light. They can't take the beating from a ranked up unit. Keep them for hunting wizards or Warmachines. They don't need frenzy to beat them and the frenzy might pull them off from their intended target.
Some people use Khorne Horsemen to splat enemy wizards who hide in units which is fair enough and is a good way to use them, if risky and suicidal. It does work though. Try them out and see what works for you is all I can say
