Chaos Sorcerer (General)
Level 2 Death
Infernal Pupet (allows me to modify a miscast role by up to D3, friend and foe)
Enchanted shield (for a total of a 2+ AS w/ Chaos Armour)
Third Eye of Tzeench (Sorcerer may choose enemy wizard and copy their spells)
Exalted Hero 4+ AR 3+ WS A4 S5
Mark of Tzeench (+1 to ward save)
Talisman of Preservation (for a 3+ WS)
16 x WoC FCG
Halberds (or Shields I can't decide *their the same pts)
Blasted Banner (5+ WS for shooting attacks)
Mark of Tzeench (same +1 to ward save [this applies to parry save if I take shields])
These guys will run 6 by 6 by 5 w/ the BSB
12 x WoC with Standard
Additional Hand Weapon
Mark of Korne (Frenzy *Total of 4 attacks each)
These guys are my hammer unit
15 x Marauders FCG
I can't find the points to give these guys anything. Right now they are just here to boost up my model count and become a bunker for the Wiz
5 x Marauder Horsemen
Mark of Korne
These guys are like a cruise missile (A10 S5 5+ AR) . They go straight for enemy generals, wizards and war machines (only 110 pts)
5 x Knights
No explanation necessary
Is this list too slow? Do I need another character? What about the marauders where can I find the pts. to beef them up (flails or LA/S). And the big WoC unit Halberds or Shields?
Hey thanks for the quick response ok I like the shields and in my first list draft I have a lev 4 all kitted out w/ humounlas and stuff but I felt that I didn't have enough models in my army. What do you think is the optimum kit for a lev4/3.
Also about the WoC what unit size do you use? I thought that for my main unit two ranks of 6 for maximum attacks with a rank of 5 for hopefully the bonus or if not a buffer so the 2x6 can get to combat
Banner of Swiftness good idea
MoK on knights good!
and Lastly should I find room for another character?
I don't think a Sorcerer Lord needs to be kitted out too much.
Level IV [Lore of Shadow]
I used to use mine 5x3, but that wasn't enough coverage, then I tried 6x3 but that was too risky, so now I just run them 6x2 and use cheap banners. If one goes down hard to magic, there are still two more to deal with. They are always MoK/Halberds or MoT/Shields. I'm also a big fan of Chaos Trolls, but they can be very easily countered if your opponent expects them.
More warriors would be better than adding another character. Maybe drop a hellcannon for a third unit of warriors.
To be honest, I just wish I had a Hellcanon model in my army...and you have TWO!
Sona si Latine loqueris.
well actually i have none of this yet though when i buy it I will make a hellcannon out of a warplightning base with tome king bits and use dwarfs as crew
back to the list would you recommend more units of warriors that arent decked out as opposed to a couple decked out units
Aye, to be honest Warriors don't need loads of equipment to be good. They're stupendously good as it is. You could just run them with Halberds and you'd still kill anything you come up against.
I'd still pay for a Mark though. Khorne for Halberd Warriors is always good and so is Tzeentch for Shield Warriors. As for Command that's up to you. Personally the only reason I bother with Standards is because of that mission which requires them (is it Blood and Glory?) If it wasn't for that mission I'd not bother with command at all.
Units of 12 are fine. I'd grab 3 untis of 12 over 2 untis of 18 as it gives you more tactical options, gives your opponents more threats to think/worry about and means all your eggs aren't all in one basket if things really do go tits up!!
If you're facing any shooty armies 9Empire, Elves, Dwarves, then I'd grab some chaos Hounds. They're cheep effective screens for your expensive Warriors and even lowly dogs can beat up artillary crew!!!
OK from what I see 2 helcannons is a bit of overkill. I'd say just take 1 and maybe take a warshrine/boost a unit to chosen. In my 2000pt army I have an exalted, a sorcerer, a BSB, Marauders, 2 warriors, a chosen, 2 warshrines and a hellcannon. As borak said, warhounds are good screens and cheap, underestimated war machine hunters. I find 12 to be the optimum warrior size, they are quite hard to kill and so should still be mostly in 1 piece when they reach the enemy. If you really want a Killy unit, give warriors halberds and the banner of rage - 3 s5 attacks each. Chosen might even roll +1 attack as well, so they have 4 s5 attacks.
Thanks for the help guys I think the biggest piece of advice was drop a hell cannon. That allowed me to get warhounds and a horde of marauders
what do you think of the final version (FYI yippy yesterday I bought my first WoC the battalion and a wiz). Even with all your help I am still on the fence about what unit size for Warriors and what to give them Anyway on to the 2k list
[General] Sorcerer Lev 2 (Fire/Death) w/ Third Eye, Infernal Puppet, and Charmed Shield
[BSB] Exalted Hero, Tally of preservation, MoT, Halberd
WoC x 16 w/ FCG, MoT, Blasted Banner, Halberds
WoC x 12 w/ AdHw, MoK, Standard, Banner of Swiftness
Marauders x 30 w/ FCG, Flails
Warhounds x 5
Warhounds x 5
M. Horsemen x 5 w/ Lwt Arm, Flails, MoS
Knights x 5 w/ MoK
Chaos Chariot x 2
* This is everything I want and still gives me 37 pts. to play with. What should I add?
I would give your khorne warriors halberds and replace the halberds on your tzeentch warrior with shileds. Its also a good idea to give you maraurders the mark of khorne and replace your chariots with warshrines. Warshrine are though and can boost your units.
Yes shrines are awesome, especially if you have 1 big unit you want to boost. They are also hard to kill, and dangerous. Too bad they errata'd out thunderstomp...
