Ok, I'm going to run this list in an up and coming 2000pt local tourney and see how It works.
IMO its a very unorthodox WoC list and the locals guys wont expect it of me.
Any suggestions, obvious errors pointed out would be great.
Sorcerer Lord; Lvl 4, 3rd eye of Tzeentch, Stream of Corruption, Book of Ashur, Mark of Tzeentch, Talisman of Endurance.
Chaos Sorcerer, Lvl2, Infernal Puppet, lore of fire
Chaos Sorcerer, Skull of Katam, lore of fire
Exalted Hero, BSB, Doom Totem
16x Warriors Of Chaos, Mark of Tzeentch, Shields, Standard, Musician, Blasted Standard
5x Marauder Horsemen, Mark of Slaanesh, Flails
5x Marauder Horsemen, Mark of SLaanesh,Flails
5x Marauder Horsemen, Mark of Slaanesh, Flails
5x Chaos Warhounds
6x Chaos Warhounds
Ok, I know this is kinda of messed up.
My strategy is to park all the characters into the unit of warriors, what im going to do is sit back and hit things with the hellcannons, make them take panic tests at -2ldr and then try to get a charge with the horsemen into the panicked units and destroy them without a fight.
puppet for the "good" hellcannon misfires, and then throw 1-2dice fireballs and flickering fires and big pandamoniums and gateways
LOL. That's deffinately quite novel and alot of people wont expect it, especially other combat armies like orcs.
The only problems you're going to face are...........
An Empire army with multiple units and multiple war machines will just beat you in an arms race. Against Dwarves their High Leadership, plus BSB, will keep them in line whilst they'll beat you in an arms race as well.
Not only that but what if you face an army that doesn't panic? Daemons perhapse? The cannons are good but wont be that great and then all the daemons have to do is concentrate on one unit of warriors to win the game.
I think the list is fine and writen pretty much as perfect as it can be for the role you want it to be. However against a dedicated gunline they'll just out shoot you or against an army that doesn't suffer panic you'll have a hell of a problem trying to beat it.
Good luck in the tourny though.
This list has way to many weaknesses to win a tournament in my opinion. Any LD(+ army with a BSB laughs off Hellcannons. Also, you don't have anything to defend your Hellcannons. Counter battery will work, as will Scouts since all your units are so small they can be gotten rid of in a hurry.
I'm all for new builds, I just don't see this as anything competitive. You're weak in combat, have sub par shooting defense, way to much Magic for an army that cannot generate extra Power Dice, not enough Magic defense etc. Just being honest about what you can really expect.
There are better ways to build the army you want, also known as Bunker Gateway. You keep most of the existing combo, lose a Wizard (one is for anti-magic, one is for casting) and bunker up with nice Warrior bricks. Cast/Shoot and then win in CC with actual beefy Warrior units. Rest of the points are usually spent spamming Hounds to kill war machines, they do it cheaper than M Horsemen. It was a power army in 7th but it's a fine build now.
Yes I occasionally descend from the ivory tower that is my seldom read blog.
Hrmm valid points all, I believe i will max out my 25% minimum core with warriors in the bunker unit and then just spam dogs.
The tourney im playing in has specific rules, max 4 warmachines, no power scrolls.. etc, also its a smaller tourney and i doubt i will face many gun lines.
The beauty of every egg in the one basket is you can stick the basket behind a building
Im taking lore of fire with the 2 lower level wizards and im going to spam fireballs at long range until the enemy inevitably gets a little closer then ill spam more fireballs and tzeentch spells.
once they enemy is within 24" Im going ot start casting 1 dice fireballs, the level 2 has +3 the level 1 has +2 and the lvl 4 has +7 to cast so im going to be able to spam lower level spells to hopefully either burn up dispel dice or get some good kills.
with pandamonium in play the -2ldr is going to be really good.
Also ill focus the fireballs at cavalry/warbeasts/chariots first to hopefully set a few to flight.
ITP is going to be my biggest problem, but it wont just be a big unit of armoured warriors that eventually fight, there's also 2 hellcannons, which are pretty awesome in a scrap. and even if they dont panic they still are going to eat lots of magic on their way across the board.
I don't really expect to win over all, but its going to be fun. No plan survives first engagement, and the dice gods will play a huge part in my strategy, but im a gambler so heres hoping!
