Welcome to Librarium Online!
Totally new to Chaos and I've decided I wanted a Tzeentch list, all my models (save one which will be obvious when you see it) will be Tzeentchified.
12 Warriors Shield, music, standard MOT - 228.
-- Exalted shield, sword of might, talisman of endurance, acid ichor - 180 (he's in the above unit)
12 warriors, shield, MOT, Music - 218
-- Exalted, shield, BSB - 140
Scyla - 105 (Fluff wise he was taken by the Tzeentch warriors as a dowry gift)
16 Marauders, shields, music, standard, MOT - 112
Total of 983, I can add a few Marauders or whatever but I wanted opinions. I am fighting a CC heavy Orc/Gobbo guy, expect lots of boyz and night gobbos, probably a giant.
Thanks in advance.
Welcome to the best army in the Warhammer world then
The Exalted (general) looks good to me. Ditch Acid Ichor and replace it with the Mark of Tzeentch. This will boost his ward save to a 4+.
The BSB, get this boy Tzeentch too!! This will boost his parry save to a 5+ Ward
Not sure about you but I'd consider bringing some magic. He undoubtably will so it's nice to have some protection. Maybe swap out the 'general' for a Level 2 Tzeentch sorcerer? Either give this chap the 3rd eye of tzeentch or a spell familiar and you're good to go. Tzeentch magic can be very effecive against horde armies like Orcs.
Both the Warriors look good. Consider some of the cheap magic banners. The standard of discipline is great for a LD8 general, the Rapturous standard is amazing next to a BSB and the banner of eternal flame is great for taking out trolls an causing fear in cav, beasts etc.
Marauders seem like a bit of a waste. There isn't enough of them to be effective. Against Orcs'goblins there isn't enough of them to help out with steadfast and they're not killy enough like warriors to win combats on kills alone. I would drop them and replace them wth some Hounds. They're insanely usefull against Goblins and can be used to draw out fanatics early on and kill Gnarla squiggs. Any that survive can go after bolt thrower/doom divah crew and so forth.
EDIT: If you're happy to change your characters try these boys out
Sorcerer, Tzeentch, Level 2, Spell Familiar -155pts
Exalted, Tzeentch, Talisman of Preservation, Halberd. BSB -194pts
This is where my being a novice is greatly exposed, I thought if the unit had MoT then the exalted, provided he remains in the unit, does too. Was I wrong on that? The BSB, get this boy Tzeentch too!! This will boost his parry save to a 5+ WarI'd love to but the person I'm playing in this case hates magic, so I didn't want to make waves by bringing a sorcerer. Not sure about you but I'd consider bringing some magic.I'll keep that in mind, instead of the warhounds what about Trolls? I have absolutely no experience with Trolls but who doesn't like vomiting monsters?Marauders seem like a bit of a waste.
THanks for the reply and suggestions.
Yeah, if only that was how it worked You have to buy the characters the marks to gain the benefits. Most unit upgrades will only affect the models of 'the unit' rather than attached characters unless it says otherwise. This is where my being a novice is greatly exposed, I thought if the unit had MoT then the exalted, provided he remains in the unit, does too. Was I wrong on that?No worries then! Atleast you wont have to worry about foot of Gork and that nasty goblin MagicI'd love to but the person I'm playing in this case hates magic, so I didn't want to make waves by bringing a sorcerer.Marauders are worth while, you just need a good big block of them. Trolls are good although you need 4 to make much of an impact and the points get expensive in small games. Mutant regenerate is amazing though and if you take Trolls in any kind of numbers (6 is ideal) then by the time the unit gets down to 3 or so they're insanly killy and tough.I'll keep that in mind, instead of the warhounds what about Trolls? I have absolutely no experience with Trolls but who doesn't like vomiting monsters?
Their downside though is that they must be next to the general, otherwise their stupidity kills them, and this makes them predictable. Most people also bring that 10pt flaming banner................... So it's not all win win with them. They are fun tho.
Well, Lord Borak, you've pretty much answered any questions I had to this point. Thanks for the help.
