Welcome to Librarium Online!
Hey guys, I'm about to start a Mighty Empires campaign with a couple of friends, so I've put together a 2000 point list to start off with to say what my big army is going to be. Eventually it'll turn into 2500, but until then, I'm going to be playing with 2000 points, as well as testing it out on some people beforehand. However, the list is stuck at 1879, and I'm not sure what else to throw in there. Any suggestions? Here's the list:
Chaos Lord 344 pts
MoT, Talisman of Protection, Axe of Khorne, Enchanted Shield, Favour of the Gods,
Sorcerer 135 pts
Level 2, Spell Familiar
Exalted Hero 195 pts
BSB, MoT, Sword of Battle, Talisman of Endurance
50 Marauders 292 pts
MoN, Great Weapons, Standard, Musician
19 Warriors 371 pts
MoT, Halberds, Standard, Banner of Eternal Flame, Musician
10 Hounds 60 pts
10 Hounds 60 pts
5 Knights 290 pts
MoT, Standard, Blasted Standard, Musician
this is what I think.
Personally (but really, this is just my taste) id go with a level 4 sorcerer lord instead of a buffed up chaos lord.
The main reasons for this are 1- you have more magic offense, 2- you have more magic defence, like dispelling 3- you have acces to the lore of shadow, which is my all time favorite.
When you decide to get a level 4 sorcerer in you can also ditch the level 2 sorcerer for another exa hero for instance.
Im abit confused about your purpose with your core army.
50 marauders indicates horde ranks (10 x 5) with great weapons, which is really good, but than theres a mark of Nurgle. I would go for overkill and place MoK on them. the -1 WS/BS is not gonna do you more good than 10 extra attacks per round! Also I think 50 is alot, I like to go with 40 minus the heroes that join the unit. (if I go with hordes).
If you want to keep the tzeench theme going, may I suggest sword and shield. This way you have a 5+ ward save in close combat. High enough to pin down a unit for some turns.
The warriors are your bulk, again the gear is confusing, halberds for +1S but MoT for the 6+ ward save? a Banner of rage or mark of khorne would fit perfectly here (frenzy).
Hounds are nice depending on your playstyle. I personally dont use them alot.
I would go with 1 or 2 more knights and drop the musician, unless you really want to keep it.
Drop the mark on the warshrine, it doesnt need the save.
Oki so thats about the stuff I have to whine about xD if you go with the lvl 4 sorc you get some points free for extra things like marks or so.
Hope it helps!
I actually used to run a lvl 4 sorc with shadow, and he costs more than my chaos lord, so I was freeing points up by dropping him. I figured I'd go more combat heavy for once, since magic and I don't always get along. I marked the warriors wrong, thank you for pointing out, they should be khorne. The reason for the marauders is because since they are a horde, they get the extra rank anyway, so I went Nurgle for survivability. I was gonna go six knights to start but i wasnt sure, I'm glad to see I was right in the first place, I'll be sure to add more. The mark on the warshrine, I don't know, I ALWAYS bring a warshrine to my fights, and more often than not, the additional save is a huge help every time. I have about 100 points to work with, you're saying a couple of knights and a mark? Works for me. Anything else?
imo not really, lists depend alot on how you play and if this suits you id go for it Beware that you only have 2 units which can hold out multiple rounds, this will make you flankable.
And if you want to have more survivability on the marauders go tzeench. Nurgle is just -1 ws in close combat (its nice vs shooting though) and you need about 5 difference for people to hit you on 5's. Thats not possible with WS 4.
I respect your decision about going combat heavy sounds fun!
