Ok this is just a fun fluffy list i might try and test out if people will let me at my local store as its slightly illegal
Tzeentch, Dragon Helm, Talisman of Preservation, Axe of Khorne, Shield
Diabolical Splendor, Acid Ichor
Armour of Destiny, Halberd, disk of tzeentch
level 2, 3rd eye, Infernal Puppet,
Level 2, conjoined, dispel Scroll
halberds, shields, full command, banner of the eternal flame
halberds, shields, full command, razor banner
2 units of 5 knights both with khorne
2 chaos dragons
i know ur not allowed but just thought it wld be fun to have 3 dragons flying around, i also used the point cost for the dragons given in the lords section so it puts me 20 points over the 25% limit
what do you think
would you let me play this list against you?
I would as long as I could cheat and bring three of my awesomest monsters (usually dragons) in against you too. Just for fun of course.
At 3000pts? Yeah, I guess I'd be alright with you playing that list against me. I don't know that I'd face you with my Warriors, only because we tend to lack ways to deal with the big guys like that (although I might just horde up some Khorne Halberds with Festus and a Razor Banner). But at 3k with my standard, non-tailored Empire list I could probably take you out.
Warriors are downright scary, and the limit on Dragons is there for a reason- there aren't supposed to be many of them in an army. You'll probably find yourself on the winning side with this list quite often, considering that it's very mobile (fly behind me, I either turn around and take Knights to the rear, or Dragons to the rear) and you can pile dragons together in combat.
I would let you play it on the stipulation that you treat Dragons as Hero Choices as per the old 7th edition formatting, and that your Lords and Heroes section combined costs no more than 50% of your army (since you're 20pts over 25%).
Oh- and armylists go in the armylist section, remember? I'll move the thread there.
yea i cant wait to try this list out although i will have to proxy the 2 dragons
the thing is is that my magic is very much on the week side with only 2 level 2's at 3k so that is the downside
in addition all my other units are very small and with all the war machines out there they might not even survive 2 rounds
this list was really for the up comming storm of magic with the new monsters as i wld be rather disappointed if you cldnt take dragons without mounts
and they are 360 points which if u compare to a carnisaur is all right and im sure a carnisour wld take out a dragon
No ways to deal with big guys? Glaive of putrefaction + flaming sword not count?

That's ONE way, ONE model to deal with them. I mean yeah, we can spam attacks and just try to roll up 6's. Festus is probably the best way to get things done, since 6's to hit will autowound and sending forward 30 or so attacks means that you should deal at least 5 wounds without needing to roll against Toughness. We can use our own monsters if we have to (Slaanesh Giants are awesome).
I meant more that we don't have any cannons or warmachines capable of putting out a lot of wounds, no shooting to spam like other armies, and our Strength is usually capped at 5 (unless you're crazy enough to wast I5 on GreatWeapon Warriors). We can certainly handle monsters, but they're the only thing that we break a sweat fighting against- everything else we just slice right through.
Those are NOT small units of Warriors, trust me. My usual list at 3k runs regiments of 15-18 and does just fine. Killing your way through 21 Warriors is damn near impossible for most armies. Those guys aren't going to be the target of most of the hate- the Dragons will be. And that leaves those Warriors as big, deadly, bricks of points denial. This is a really solid list- I can't begin to tell you how much they slam Book/3rd Eye + Infernal builds in comped tournaments.
Like I said- there's a reason that Dragons used to take up a Hero slot. They're really good, and they were never meant to be fielded in such vast quantities. For example, just to field the army that you have now, and make it semi-legal (not 20pts over) you'd have to be playing at 3080pts. In 7th, you'd be playing at 4000 to field this many dragons, and it would be maxing your Lord alotment and leaving you 3 Hero choices.
If you want to play games like this, wait for Throne to come out. To be honest though, you'll be looking at games which are MUCH larger than 3k games. Thrones is going to be like Apocalypse for 40k, and you don't use those rules for "average" sized battles. The cut-off for Thrones will probably be games 4kpts/army or larger. Things start getting weird in Fantasy once you field armies bigger than 3k. A better way to get used to Thrones would be to play large games like this, or play team battles. Remember- Thrones isn't just going to help Warriors. It's going to reintroduce things like the Empire Gun Battery, that lets them take 3 Cannons as a single unit (cheaper than your dragon, certain to kill it), let LM take a handful of Carnosaurs, let High Elves form their Dragon Lords into regiments, on top of probably adding crazy rules for spell generation, new monsters/units/items, and stuff like the 'Apocalypse Template' and 'Artillery Barrage'.
I'm not arguing with your list exactly, and I don't think anyone really should. It's blatantly illegal and you mean to use it in the spirit of a "for fun" game. I think that you might scare away a lot of opponents, and I think that you're going to find that the list is pretty over the top just because of the 3 dragons, but it's not like you're playing for prizes or even really for bragging rights since most people will hide behind the fact that your list was illegal in 2 ways.
oh yea of course
this list is wayyy over the top
i dont think it wld be impossible to beat but it wld be very difficult but i just think it wld look cool
however saying that i did play this list today against a dwarf army and yea he was destroyed
however he had 1 cannon, 2 stone throwers and a organ gun
the organ gun blew up 1st turn and his cannon and 1 stone thrower were deployed off the board (were were playing that senario where on a 1 the unit is off the board)
he also had a chance to flank is miners into my knights (which i was actualy hoping he wld do as it wld get them closer to my guys) but his anvil blew up
so yea although a very good game his gods were else where this time
