This is the list I'm currently playing around with and I plan to build it up to 2400 next.
-Stream of Corruption
-Blood of Tzeetch
Most likely going to be taking either the lore of shadows, or a marked lore. I prefer lore of Shadows since almost all the spells are good no matter what army you're facing. Marked lores win out against the other core lores due to their ease of casting. Gave him stream to help him in a challenge, and Homoculus/Blood to help with casting. Runesword was mostly thrown on for kicks, and because my model had a cool sword.
-Book of Secrets
-Third-Eye of Tzeetch
Standard BSB scroll caddy. If I find he's underwhelming then he'll be re-kitted out with Whip of Subversion and gear to make him better in challenges. Most likely going to be taking lore of Fire or lore of shadows if the Lord takes Nurgle. Gave him mark of Tzeetch to help with casting, and Third-eye to give him a little more variety with spells. Risky casting big spells without Infernal Puppet and his D6+1 miscast table, but everything is so deadly on the table that infernal puppet doesn't make a big difference.
The Anvil unit. Gave them War banner to help them win combat resolution.
The Hammer unit. Gave them Rapturous standard to help them stay in combat after taking a bad charge.
-Banner of Rage
-Favor of the gods
-Warshrine (Technincally not a true upgrade, but a necessity with Chosen)
Fairly Standard Chosen strategy. Set them up to be a hammer unit with a 6+ ward and hope you improve them into 3+ ward killing machines.
Not sure where I'm going to put the characters. BSB will need to be near the frenzied units to restrain charges, and I'm hesitant to put the Sorceror Lord with the Chosen since it makes them an even bigger target.
Couple different plans for 2400
Keep the Chosen and use the new points for some harassment squads (Horsemen or Forsaken).
Keep the Chosen and drop a few small items to get two hellcannons.
Drop the chosen for another hammer unit, add two hellcannons and a lvl2 sorcerer (would also switch the bsb to more killy less casty) or harassment squads.
400 point warhound block
No love for the Marauders? This saddens me. In all seriousness, though, it seems that you're putting out too few Wounds out there. I think at least a block or two of 20 Marauders with Mark of Khorne and Flails would give this army some bite, 'cause it seems to be lacking that. I also don't think I'd go out on a limb and slap Wizard levels on my BSB, especially with that "I blow myself to smithereens!" Miscast chart he has. Just my opinions.
I have nothing against marauders, it was just quicker to get started using mono warriors. As soon as I find a way to paint flesh I like I'll start working with some marauder units.
BSB is only a big liability when playing against Lizardmen. Most other games he'll just throw out the dispel scroll and maybe a fireball once or twice. Probably going to play him today with the Whip setup since there won't be anything big I need to dispel.
So looking at taking this
-Whip of Subversion
-Talisman of Protection
Whip is mostly for when I get stuck in a fight/challenge with a nasty monster or character. Otherwise I'd take a Rending Sword to simply kill a standard character.
As for the Sorceror Lord going to drop Runesword for an Amulet of Preservation and finish off with an enchanted shield.
-Stream of Corruption
-Blood of Tzeetch
-Amulet of Preservation
-Mark of Nurgle
Threw the mark of nurgle on him to give the lore a try. Seems easier to drop a steamtank into the bog then hope a pit of shades doesn't scatter away from it.
